Default k&n air filter useful on the 330Ci ??

hey all, just wonderin if anyone has put a k&n air filter in their e46??
I am not looking for the "extra hp" you suposidly get, and i am not disputing if you do get it, i just never notice a difference, BUT I am more interested in if it is better than the stock air filter, or if the stock is of a high enough quality to let the engine breathe properly??

I think I would either get a CAI or just leave the OEM filter alone. I don't feel the drop in filters give any advantage over oem.

I had a CAI with a K&N cone on my 330Ci when I had it. It didn't do much(if anything) for power but it sounded good.

I wouldn't bother with a drop in filter.
