Default Any SVT Foci owners here ???

How do you like them ??

I have a lease on a 2001 Focus SE . It has 8000 kms (5000 miles ) on the clock. I have 2 years left on the Ford lease . I'm in a position to get something a little nicer . Metro Ford has 9 2002 SVT foci on their lot . I'm wondering if it's worth a visit to the dealer to see what sort of deal I could get on leasing a SVT Focus.

The SVT Focus would make a nice companion to the Stang...

Yea, Im curious about those cars too, one of the racer mags put the SVT up against the SiR and they prefered the SVT.

I'd take one over an SiR

This is ford's first attemt at variable valve timing, that would worry me a little.

I'd take a GTi over either though.

Ford has had variable valve timing before in some of the late 90's Escorts it was called VCT said it right on the Valve Cover.

Dayum, I didn't know that! I just looked it up and the ZX2 does in fact have variable camshaft timing, though still produces a lowly 126 HP. I remember reading though that ford had officially announced this as thier first VVT system. LIARS!

I found this site which is quite helpful on the engine linups in the focus, that covers euro and american models: http://autozine.kyul.net/html/Ford_Europe1.htm

a continuous variable valve phasing at intake side (Ford claimed it as its first VVT, although I know the Yamaha-engineered Puma 1.7 and the Tickford-developed Falcon XR6 VCT also employ that)
These are euro models, but apparently the zetec equipped contours and ZX2s here have the VCT as well. Its extremely hard to find info on it though and why the VCT only adds about 15 HP to the engine

Thankyou for keeping this thread on topic....

I'm trying to find out if there's a surplus of SVT Foci, and if I can get a deal...

There is a surplus on SVT Foci....for once SVT might even let you bargain. I know that they've been giving Ford employees really good deals on them just to clear them out. I believe they've only sold 2 in Edmonton...it's nuts.

Those old Escorts were fun. Dialed in with oversteer from the factory on a front wheel drive car!

Yes, you can get a deal on them, one of the Ford dealers were blowing them out for under $25,000

Is the SVT the North American equivalent of the RS? The October
issue of Car magazine gave the RS a good review.

    More RS pics

Yup, and 229 ft-lbs torque. Again, Europe gets the best cars.
