Scary stuff. Take a look at a new slim PS2 those things get hot enough to fry an egg on. I know one guy who left a disc on top of his while they were playing and the disc melted. I'm waiting for a lawsuit anytime now.Originally posted by 69cougar

just click the link on xbox.com and enter your serial number and manufacture date and if you qualify it will ask you for your address etc.
1 in 10,000 and only if leave it on 24/7.
The scary thing is, the processor in the next gen system guarantees the case will be made of solid aluminum in order to dissipate the heat.
Werd to the slim ps2 getting hot. I think that is why it freezes.
This is anything can start a damn fire. They make Microsoft manufacture a shit load of cables just because it can "start a fire". WTF is the point. That's as stupid as holding companies responsible for you microwaving a piece of solid gold.
This only promotes homos to keep playing 24/7 so that they die like that idiot that actually died from playing too much.

I orderd my new cable.. weeee
nice, now i won't have to crawl under my desk to unplug my cable anymore...i will just leave it there and whenver i go to my gf place i just take the new cable with me.
Our society has become a bunch of babies. We sue every chance we get cause we are to stupid to realize what is dangerous and what is not.Originally posted by oddjob

Stupid people are the reason why there are so many laws and caution lables.

I'm not the least bit surprised at all that the slim PS2's would have overheating issues of their own. When I first saw the design when it came out, my first thought was "how the hell are they going to fit a proper cooling unit in something that small?". Morons. Glad to see my hunch was right at least.
As for my Xbox, I haven't cross checked my unit's serial number yet to see if I fall under that recall, but be it so if it turns out that may be the case, I'm not concerned. I don't run my Xbox 24/7 nor do I leave it sitting on the carpet. Why anyone would leave a console just so more dust and lint can get trapped in the inside of the unit and clog up the heat vents is beyond me. I'm sure I won't have an issue with it regardless of the recall. For that matter, if the successor will be backwards compatible with first gen Xbox games (which it should), and my Xbox craps out on me, well whatever... I'll have an Xbox2 by then.
me and a bunch of friends, just got ours mailed out..
I had a nice piece of carpet burned off because of that.
