You have an automatic 4 cyl 1.8l bmw motor. You would have to spend lots of cash to make decent power out of it. Basic bolt ons will do nothing for it. Not trying to flame just giving you an opinion.
Otherwise if you really want try looking into an intake, a chip, I don't know if they make better cams for the 4 cylinder motor. Intake manifold? I know that on the 6 cylinder ones you can swap out a whole bunch of M3 parts, but not sure about the 4 banger. Good luck.

I had a 318i in my day and to tell you the truth it's not worth upgrading. The stock engine is alright but from the research that I did at the time, adding an intake and chip will not do very much for you. From my research, I decided that I should either drop a 325 engine in or sell the car and start with something else. If you're looking to put on upgrades etc. then the 318i is not the place to start IMO.

The only worthwhile option is FI.

http://www.downingatlanta.com/da_superchargers_new.htm make one for the 318

It's not worth it though. Better off selling the car and buying a 325 or something else.

You can probably supercharge a 328 with some success, but it will cost you a lot. Chances are that you will have issues with reliability and tunning. Better off to sell it and get an M3 if you want more powa.

I have a 325is motor for sale, out of a E36 92' BMW. Neads a new head. $700 2.5L I6 Extra $150 if you want the auto tranny with it.
If you want it with a new head its $1600, but you get a 6 month warrenty. Also, $150 extra for the auto tranny.
PM me, if interested. This engine does 189hp (Not to the wheels, but factory number to the crank).

Sell the car, I have tuned a 318is with limited results, gone as far as a downing atlanta S/C but I had a stick shift, although it was as quick as a stock 328is. Before the S/C I had a Jim Conforti chip and that woke the engine right up so if you are considering keeping the car this is the way to go but ultimatly the automatic is the limiting factor...

If you live in Calgary, you don't be getting an Evo 7 for a very long time.
