    Default World Bobsled Champs....

Well, I need a better camera ! The Canon A60 is a good point and shoot camera ,but try taking pics of 130 kph bobsleds at night when they don't want you using the flash (distracts the drivers ) . I took bunch ,most missed the sleds totally !!
    Here's the best..

Hey man, cant win them all, dont be discouraged, those things are moving way too fast for your average camera, and the lighting at those locations is less than perfect.

I was out at COP last December shooting the World Cup Luge and it's only till you're sporting several SEVERAL grand worth of gear that the pics FINALLY come out real nice on those extreme speed photos (Lugers are moving at 120+km/h):

In any case, at least you were there taking it all in.

    Cheers Bud!

Actually shot all the photos that day with a 20D and 70-200 2.8L IS USM lens.

    Bobsledding is definatly awesome.

Was the Jamaican team there? haha.

    Cool Runnings.

My good friend Aristottle was running in the 2-man for the Greek team, they did ok but crashed in the last turn before the finish in their first run, which put them pretty far back.

I went out last week and did some runs with the local bobsled club, I was second man in on a four man team. Let me tell you you do not understand the speeds these things can corner at, Near the bottom of the hill I was wondering how in the world we were ever going to make it around the corners... The entry speeds into the turns is absolutely insane!

Who did you go down with? I've been forerunning for worlds the last little while. Crashing out of fourteen will take at the most a tenth off of your down time, being far back is from shitty driving, shitty equipment and a shitty push. Kudos for your friend for getting in that greek sled, I've watched that guy drive and it looks like an awfully bumpy ride, crashes a lot.

I went with a Native lady and a guy from europe with a crazy accent.. I can't remember names, but very nice people. If I was staying in Calgary I'd definately take the drivers course next year, I'd love to get my speed fix in the wintertime too!

I didn't say he was a piece of shit. He can't make that guy drive better (although it sure would have helped). He sure could have pushed faster though - he hasn't been doing this for a while, has he?

That was Paula, she's pretty much the only recreational slider around. You weren't in the sled when it crashed, were you?

No, he's only been a bobsledding for a few weeks. They got a little better at the push this weekend.
