Default can i put 16v 2.0 gti engine into 93-95 jetta?

im thinkin about gettin a jetta when i get my first real car but its engine is only 115hp and 8v 2.0, i read the 16v 2.0 gti engine is 150 hp.. so could i swap that engine instead of the stock one? would added mods result better that way?

    tnx

The 2.0L 16v is 134HP in North America. Yes the engine will fit, it was offered in the A3 chassis everywhere but here!

If you really want to rip out the 2.0 crossflow, why not go for the VR6? The 16V is a great motor but used VRs are really easy to find these days too.

Either that or go for the 2.0 crossflow ND turbo kit!

hmm.. well if i get vr6.. then i dont think i can like put a turbo on it as well right?

plus the vr6 is heavier right?
and whats this crossflow ur talkin about?
    sry im a nub

oh, btw, if the 16v is 134 hp, and 8v is 115hp.. whats the extra valves help? i mean... is it easier to get hp from upgrades by having more valves?
and is it worth it financially? would upgrading 8v with the extra money b a better result?

More valves= more air/exaust flow.... I am not sure, but you may wanna look at mabey just changing the heads and pistions if the block is the same. Mabey be cheeper too (sounds like your on a tight budget)

yes you can transplant the engine, but as was said before, i recommend getting a VR6 transplant instead. you will already be starting with 174hp. and yes, you can turbo or supercharge the VR6, although that costs quite a bit more.
