The Weather is too damn nice, and I know its still too early, but there has been talks about this years cruise, so here it goes.
Here's a the planning thread for the Spring cruise. This years cruise will be in two parts due to popular deman.
- Spring cruise will be held in late may - early june, as in the start of the season/holiday.
- Summer Cruise will be about the same time as last year. Mid - late Aug before everyone get back to work/school.
- most likely to be on a sunday if not Sat. No weekdays
This is the planning thread for the Spring Cruise, post up and ideas you have such as destination / date / things to do etc.
Keep in mind:
- A good environment
- A logical destination that we can have something to do, an open field to do stuff, set up a BBQ etc.
- A good road to drive in, good distance, not-so-busy...
- Probably some good roads / parking lot... so some of us dont bottom out every 20 secs...
- preferrably a non-completely straight road (ie highway towards Edmonton)
note: these are just some suggested guildlines, we dont HAVE to follow them, whatever you have in mind we'll decide upon them.
This is what happened last year, due to the shitty weather, we couldnt do very much, but most people still had tons of fun. The plan is to have everything planned out ahead this time, so the curise wouldnt seem so pointless....

Keep in mind: It is asked that everyone behave in a manner that is befitting (is that a word?) of beyond.ca. This is a group event where everyone is to enjoy a nice safe event.

Lake Minnewanka would be an outstanding place to go. The area has enough space to park plently of cars/trucks as there are plently of parking lots. There is grass space and BBQ areas for those that don't want to swim and for those that do there is a huge lake. The drive is outstanding as I would suggest leaving from the NW of Calgary, maybe meeting in Crowfoot center. From there people could drive west out thru ghost lake, past morley, thru seebe/exshaw and into canmore, at canmore jump on to the highway and follow to Minnewanka. The road is fun, not alot of traffic, lots of turns and twists, the time would be about an 1.5 hours.
The other great thing about Minnewanka is that road is a giant loop incompasing the entire park. Not to mention the backgrounds are amazing and Banff town center is only 15 mintues away.
I would suggest the cruise out to Minnewanka followed by a BBQ lunch, continuing with the cruise leaving the campground, making a lap thru Banff and heading back to Calgary.
just my 2cents,

The Route:

ok, i cant find shit on the net, its fucking hard to look for a good clear map.... but did found an alberta map at home
according to onludes suggested direction, it's the exact A1 route. So here's my idea.
Since A1 is crowchild of calgary, we should have a south meeting spot and a north meeting spot just like last year. may be we can get some MCD again then head out, so for north it will be at Crowfoot mall, a big enough parking lot, I think the RONA lot should be ok. It's the biggest one, or even the theater one will do. Which ever one is more empty. RONA one should be pretty dead in the morning i think...
South meeting spot I have no idea, you guys can figure that out. All i can suggest is may be chinook, that way you can then take Glenmore follow by crowchild. Should be a really straight forward route to get to crowchild.
After meeting up in crowfoot, we'll head out to crowchild west. take A1 all the way to near canmore, then we can either go on trans CAN for a short time or take Palliser Tr for a short bit then take trans CAN again shortly after. We still have to join back back to Trans CAN some how, just depends on when and how long. Think we should avoid it as much as we can tho... Shitty drivers, slow drivers, speeding trucks.... you name it, It's there on number one.
Then past through the ticket center or whatever its call, go into banff, turn off to Lake Minnewanka loop and there we are. Look for a camp ground / parking lot whatever...
so to sum it up:
south meeting spot - north meeting spot -- crownchild -- 1A -- (Palliser Tr) (may be) -- Trans CAN -- Ticket Center -- Lake Minnewanka loop.
