Mine works fine and myn is from Launch (Nov. 15, 2001). Some of the Xbox are defected though. The new version (On sale from November ON) are Xbox 1.1. Basically updated BIOS. Seems like it reads faster than old Xbox's, but all you need to do is update the BIOS and it works like a 1.1.Originally posted by Dirty Sanchez
Dude If you plan on buying a used one the old X-Box systems have a problem with their DVD laser in which some peeps were having problems playing Splinter cell, Gost Recon, Mech Assault. My self I got one for Christmas this year and had to return it the next day. It ( the console) would crash during play in Splinter Cell, Dead for rights, Ghost Recon and Moto GP. All were new games arrrrrgg. The new I have isn't fookin up yet; but my old lady purchased it on Dec 1/2002. Every major retail outlet only give you 30 days and X-Box, PS2 etc will give you 90 days!!!
Unless that store will give you an extended warranty for some extra cashola!!
But my friend has the old X-Box and is playing Spinter cell with no problems.
