I'd say it's a waste of money. You have to be pretty damn hardcore (like Nazi hardcore) if you are concerned about the extra 20 seconds it might take you to exchange weight plates on ordinary dumbells.
If you ask me just drop $80.00 on a complete set of steel plate weights.

my friend owns the bowflex dumbells, he likes the fact that their small and that it dosent scratch his floor. they also dont make alot of noise when using them and are very easy to switch weight. i think they are overpriced and u would get the same results with regular dumbells
I think they're too light for much good. The max is under 60 pounds is it not?
Those would only be good for bis, tris and maybe a little delt work unless you're a chick.
they go to like 55.. pussy even for bi's... the girls on bowflex comercials are so sexy, including that milf, damn, but those weights are shitty unless its for your mom or sister IMO
I seen them there nice looking and very easy to use if you dont want abunch of dumb bells laying aorund your room than get them other than forget it, and on the commectial its not a milf its a gilf she said shes 55 and shes a grand mother( shock face) ( mine arent wokring for some reason)
My GFs dad bought them , they are alright , but only go up to 55 Pounds

wtf are you going to do with 55lbs dumbells, dick-lifts?
Fitness depot on Blackfoot has a set of power blocks, why not go down there in person, and check them out?
i have checked them out. they go up to 52.5lbs. which is already under my bench press weight. that was the problem, but i can use them for alot of things bicep's and shoulders and stuff i'm only curling around 30-35 so they would be good for awhile. the thing i like is that it is so compact but there expensive. waste of money for me??? i have a gym pass but wanted to start collecting my own equipent.
I thought I saw some in a magazine that go to 90???
if you find some for 90 let me know about them, i thought they would be 200ish and but there 450ish.
oh yeah, for those that have there own dumb bells which do you use, how much, where did you get them?? i could easily be convinced to get other ones. thanks for the help

they say standard is 45, expandable to 90, and then to 130
I dont have many dumbells, but I started buying the gym style ones with the hex ends. They are expensinve that way though....
Those power blocks look pretty good - especially with the ability to upgrade the weight.
those powerblocks don't look to bad but it's the same idea as bowflex but alittle cheaper if it's canadian. just straight dumbells are expensive and take up alot of space. looking for something fairly compact
Haha i laughed out loud at that oneOriginally posted by Wildcat

I have fixed dumbells from 5lbs to 35 lbs, and I can used my free weight plates on some 1" spin ons to build the heavier ones.
But, if I had to start from the beginning, I'd probably buy some power blocks,
what are they $600 ish? and they probably replace over 1000 lbs of fixed dumbells....something like that, right?
anyone see the powerblocks in person in calgary??? i would get the set up to 90 if they seem good.
yeah i'm just over 55lbs for my bench so i would need more, then the bowflex can offer. if i got the bow flex i was thinking that i would get dumbells going up by 5's, as i go up on my bench press. good idea???
