The news said ALL flights are cancelled immediately, even the 4 tommorow. Also, they will not be issuing any refunds.Originally posted by Canaduh

Think of the pilots who payed 30 grand to get trained on their aircraft. Now they're out 30 grand and don't have a job. Although with all their recent 'incidents' one can't be too surprised.
On a better note though my WJ stocks should do fairly well now.

yeah i feel bad for the staff of jets go. that would suck. this is the second time they fucked me in less then three months
from now on im sticking to aircanada
The pilots are in a bad position . There were lots of rumours going around about Jetsgo's financial situation.Transport Canada have been investigating Jetsgo as well. They have had several incidents recently, including engines grenading
This news is not suprising...

yeah, i should have learned this after the xmas incident. i got to the airport at 530 am and the lil dipshit behind the counter smiled and said, "im sorry, your flight is cancelled, have a merry christmas" i have never wanted to punch someone out more then that guy in my life.
Do explain. I'm not familiar with the whole pilot training thing. Also, what recent "incidents?" I haven't really followed the news on Jetsgo until now.Originally posted by 5.9 R/T

Should have seen the pics on the news, plane had some damage, tracks in the grass, it took out some lights and signs too.
Too bad for them. I never flew with them but for good reason, LOL. Looks like WJA and ACE stocks will see a bump tomorrow.
lucky for them its not me, i'd off all of themOriginally posted by Melinda
Which mega corp owns jetsgo?
OK Ill try and answer all the questions working up.
A man by the name of Michel Leblanc owns JG. He has had a rather shady past in Canadian aviation and this is not the first company he has run into the ground. He had a major role in the demise of Canada 3000 and a smaller company called Royal. He seems to always be able to walk away with full pockets though...
With regards to the incidents; the most noteable one is the one listed above but there have been others, including a loss of pressurization over the rockies, two engine failures one of which left debris on the runway which was not reported (debris on the runway caused the concorde crash), their loss of RVSM certification (basically means they can't fly above 29 000 feet) and a few others that may/may not have been rumors.
In regards to pilot training a recent trend in aviation is to make pilots pay for their own training or sign a bond that the pilot is responsible for if he/she doesn't meet certian requirements for a specific company. For Jetsgo you were required to take on a $30 000 bond in order to a) be hired, and b) recieve the appropriate training for their aircraft and company. Basically it ensures that after a pilot is trained they will not run off to another company for better pay after the first company has already payed for their training. The problem is that if you are layed off or the company goes under you are now stuck with the bill and no job.
Considering that Jetsgo just recently purchased several new aircraft and was poised to open many routes out west they had recently taken on a lot of new pilots and now all of these guys are out of a job and 30 grand.
