from what i hear it takes something like 25% off (dunno for sure), and if u take those defensive driving courses or whatever, they give u something like 3 bonus demerits where if u get a ticket within the next year or so, u can redeem the certificate so that u now have 3 less demerits.

25% is huge saving for me cause i think my insurance will be around $5k/year. thats $1250!!! but $40........ i got better things to do. so i'm guessing it varies depending on insurance company? i could care less for 3 more demerits. i'm a pretty slow driver so i probably won't get any speeding tickets anyways.

i say think u should take it, when i started driving i thought i'd never speed, but now i'm always going at least 10 over and stuff.

maybe the discount also depends on who u get the training from.

how much did you guys save on insurance before and after taking the course? i want to get a good idea if the amount saved on insurance can offset the cost of the course. also someone told me taking the course is only effective for 3 years, is that true?

haha. chinese driving instructors are funny. i had a chinese guy for driving lessons a few years back. he would try speaking in chinese but i couldn't really understand him. then he tried speaking in english, it sounded like his own language or something. needless to say it didn't go too well.

It does help... how much it helps depends on the insurance company... ask them
