fianlly some one is sticking it to Sony, thye have been deserving this for a long time now. Dont get me wrong the playstation is great, but sony will tread over anyone and everyone to get a product on the shelf
So basically go back and change your subject title. The order to suspend sales does not hold while an appeal is being heard.
Sony will continue to sell its game machines in the United States, the spokesman said.
oh big deal, and it sounds cooler and more shockingOriginally posted by Talies R

I would be interested to see the sales figures on the PS2 since this hit the news.
I think Immersion is just tryin to rip sony for some money after their own technology didn't take off.
Who wants to bet Microsoft could be behind that somehow...

It's a no-name company going after a big cash settlement. Same old story.
well that doesnt make sense, its not like sony wants to be sued and shit haha. I could easily change the title and your whole point will become moot.Originally posted by Newk

Anyways, you guys are kinda wrong bout immersion. They have been in the peripheral business making "force feedback" devices before sony, logitech and all that. In fact, logitech are close partners with immersion and extensively license their stuff, so immersion does have a legit case.

Why? Want to see a scam? How many people have had to buy two PS2's because their first one crapped out? Lots (myself included). That's good for business but shitty for the consumer. PS2's are the poorest made consoles ever, I'm sure Microsoft is behind that also.Originally posted by Inzane

Do you have any proof to demonstrate that goes at all beyond your own personal opinion and experience?Originally posted by heavyD

It's common knowledge that PS2's are shoddy hardware. Sure you will get people say "mines still working fine" but there is alot of people that have had to replace theirs. I'm not a Sony or Microsoft hater, I just hate having to buy new hardware because it wasn't designed to last.Originally posted by Inzane

Didn't the XBox have tonnes of problems when it first came out? And I thought their controllers weren't as nice a quality as PS2's.Originally posted by heavyD

Xbox controllers are cheap pieces of junk. they are huge, uncomfortable to use (it is impossible to top the Dual Shock, anyway) and ugly. there is so much empty space in them, even a drop onto a hard carpeted floor can crack them (the short "brill" carpet). shoddy design. the console maintains the design theme of huge amounts of wasted space, that thing is 90% hollow.
plus the force feedback in the Dual Shock is such a basic concept I would have a tough time imagining how Immersion has a valid lawsuit here. it is basically an electric motor that has no counterbalance on it, which makes it generate a lot of vibration.
i dont know if you can really claim that. i've had my ps2 since they came out, same with a bunch of my friends. the only friend i have that has had a problem with his left his ps2 running for 2 months straight. so basically, i've heard the exact opposite of what you're claiming. maybe you just had bad luckOriginally posted by heavyD

apparently a lot of people do, but then again, you only hear from the people who complain don't you?? considering how many millions of PS2s have been sold, have you heard a couple of million people complaining? no, you hear from maybe a couple different ones, and all of the sudden the system is unreliable.Originally posted by habsfan

trust me, if it actually was a piece of crap, there would be big articles about it and a debacle about Sony's business pratices etc etc --- just like there was with the Xbox's flaming power cords.
I've never met someone or even heard of someone whose power cable has caught fire, yet there is a huge deal about them.
It's all personal experience, I know people who have had 0 PS2 problems and some who have had to buy multiple PS2s because theirs died.
I own a PS2 and Xbox and would take the Xbox controller over the PS2's anyday, the quality is much better in the Xbox controller.
