Uhhh that is not what I meant. I am just glad that Dana did not give Hughes another easy match like his previous two.

my point is that a fight with overeem will end the same way. and a fight with jackson will also end the same way.

That Pride Final Conflict Absolute was awesome...Total surprise from Josh Barnett - thought he was going to submit to Nogueira. Barnett dominated that match. Too bad he can't beat CroCop. 0-3 with an otherwise perfect record in Pride...

Red Deer fighter makes UFC (or at least UFN...):

    The Athlete's Dream Comes True

The best things come to those who wait. And there's no question that Jason MacDonald has waited a long time.

Time and time again, he's thought the UFC would be calling on him. In fact, just last month MacDonald believed his time had come only to be turned down once more. So MacDonald carried on and prepared himself for MFC 10 Unfinished Business. It was simply business as usual for "The Athlete."

But less than 24 hours after defeating gutsy last-minute replacement Neil Berry at MFC 10, MacDonald's wish was finally granted.

The UFC called. His time had come. And it couldn't be a better scenario for MacDonald.

The MFC's international sensation will take on Ed "Short Fuse" Herman on Tuesday, Oct. 10 on the UFC's "Ultimate Fight Night 7 The Final Chapter."

MacDonald's bout is on the card of Tito Ortiz vs. Ken Shamrock III and will be televised live (and for free) on Spike TV. The fight card will be held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

"This is where I want to be," said MacDonald of fighting in the UFC. "I've felt for a long time that I've deserved to be there, but it's taken a long time and that's OK. Now that I'm going to fight in the UFC it's made the whole journey a lot sweeter.

"But I don't want to wake up on the morning of Oct. 11 and say 'Well, I've fought in the UFC, that's all I ever wanted.'

"I'm not going there to compete and just say I've fought in the UFC. I'm going there to win."

MacDonald, the first Albertan to fight in the UFC, is very confident about his matchup with Herman, a finalist in the UFC's "The Ultimate Fighter Season 3" reality show. While Herman possesses strong wrestling skills, MacDonald sees so many positives in his own game plan that he is sure his UFC debut will be a successful one.

"I know Ed Herman is very good wrestler but I think that's the only area that he's any better than me," said MacDonald. "And he's trained with the same guys for so long, I'm really not sure if he's progressed at all.

"I've become a better fighter each time I've fought. I learned a lot from fighting Patrick Cote, Gideon Ray, Shonie Carter and Marvin Eastman. I'm not the fighter I once was I'm much better and I'm going to show the UFC that on October 10."

MacDonald will have plenty of support on hand in Florida. His wife, Kelly, will be in the crowd as will the entire staff of the Maximum Fighting Championship. Not only will MFC Owner/President Mark Pavelich be cheering Jason on from ringside, he'll be playing a key role in MacDonald's preparation as the two are heading to Quebec for a week-long training camp at the end of September.

Assisting in MacDonald's workouts will be his Pro Camp Sports Management teammate Fabio "The Mastermind" Holanda.

"There were a lot of people who doubted that Jason would ever reach this point, but deep down he knew he'd make and I knew he'd make," said Pavelich.

"And on October 10, Jason is going to show Ed Herman that he belongs in the UFC. Wherever Ed is right now, he better be training hard because Jason is going to be very ready. There is no doubt in my mind that Jason is going to smash Ed Herman."

MacDonald and Herman have only one common opponent but the respective results couldn't be more different. Herman suffered a loss to Canadian UFC veteran Joe Doerksen in 2004 when he was submitted by a triangle choke. A year later and in Doerksen's home town of Winnipeg, MacDonald dished out some severe punishment before sinking in a rear-naked choke for the tapout victory.

    SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    -Matt Hughesvs. BJ Penn

Amazing fight! UFC needed this one after some pretty lack lustre mains. Loved to see that the training and cardio won overall, BJ is stil scary as hell though IMO, if he decides to keep fighting he will continue to cause trouble for hughes and gsp. GSP next...

    -David Loiseau vs. Mike Swick

I think fight could pretty much mark and end to us having to pay to watch the crow. His worst performance. Swick looks decent but I dont think he really got tested until the 3rd where he showed signs of weakeness. A shot at thte title would end in defeat IMO. Franklin next.....

    -Jens Pulver vs. Joe Lauzon

Really too bad, Jens was not prepped for this fight, which was really too bad I was looking forward to his run at the title.

    -Jason Lambert vs. Rashad Evans

Rashad never fails to impress I thought his opponent loked decent until the fight started, Rashad simply dominated like he has every other fight. Forrest next...

    -Melvin Guillard vs. Gabe Ruediger

Nothing special here, I was impres with Melvins take down strength he always seems to be able to throw his opponenets around like rag dolls.

    Preliminary Bouts:
    -Tyson Griffin vs. David Lee
    -Jorge Gurgel vs. Danny Abaddi
    -Roger Huerta vs. Jason Dent
    -Mario Neto vs. Eddie Sanchez

    Go BJ Go!
the crow and swick I look forward to as well.

    I guess I'll post updates

    -Danny Abbadi vs. Jorge Gurgel
First round Gurgel goes for knee bar/armbar, fails. Abbadi knocks him down with a straight punch. 2nd Gurgel dominates, takes him down as wlel as connecting with some nice punch combos. 3rd average round until the final minute where Abbadi throws a nice flurry then Gurgel scores a takedown. Either could have stolen the fight. 29-28 split UFC decision win for Gurgel

    Mario Neto vs. Eddie Sanchez
1st, pretty average round, nothing to special. 2nd, Sanchez lands a HUGE punch at 20 or so seconds, follows him to ground with 3 more. Brutal KO.

    Jason Dent vs. Roger Huerta
    Huerta wins by unanimous decision.

    -Melvin Guillard vs. Gabe Ruediger
WOW what a huge body punch that was, perfect set up jabs to the face then boom, huuuuge body punch. "You have to have a soft stomach to go down like that" topped it all off.

    -Jason Lambert vs. Rashad Evans
Again Rashad impresses, but whats this? he finishes someone off! wow. Nice KO.

    -Jens Pulver vs. Joe Lauzon
    Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh wow....that is all.

    -David Loiseau vs. Mike Swick
Pretty close fight I saw, Swick wins by UFC type decision. I'm just glad some douchebad didn't give him 30-27, I was sure that was going to happen.

    -Tyson Griffin vs. David Lee
Griffin hugely outclassed against his oponent going in, and proved it during the fight. Lee tries a flying knee right off the start (according to Rogan flying armbar ) Griffin gets his back and its over less than 2 minutes in. Watch for Griffin, he will be a star one day.

    -Matt Hughesvs. BJ Penn
Amazing match! simply amazing! best UFC fight I have seen for a while. BJ dominates the first round, nothing spectacular. Second round is full of technical sprawls by BJ, Matt tried 4-5 times to take him down before he finally got him down. Matt Hughes could barely get him down! Once on the ground Matt could not get anything going while BJ showed a superb library of weird BJJ moves and out of this world flexibility. At the end of the round BJ gets Hughes in a triangle leg chocke and half armbar at the same time, however with 15 seconds left in the round Hughes easily sucks it up and waits to get saved by the bell. 3rd round more technical ground moves by BJ until Matt gets him in a SICK crucifix type hold (what he did to Newton), however is so close he can't get anything behind his punches. Hits BJ with about 30 soft fists over a span of 45 seconds and Big John ends it.

Was going to do live updates, but beyond wasn't working.
    cman is impressed

bj aboslutley dominated matt hughes lived up to his nick name but the dude seriously needs more work ethic. gassed out vs gsp now vs hughes. the guy was simply on another level than hughes. and he is sopposed to be a true 155er, if he had cardio this fight would have been his.

Penn seperated a rib at the end of the 2nd round.
Which is why he was so useless, at least he didn't cry about it like Kalib did on TUF.

Seperated rib then 60 punches to the face from hughes, what a shitty 5 minutes of life.
