Great Book!! I have read it a couple times. I think you should read several different versions of though. Its how you get the most out of it. Be careful when buying it, some versions only have a essay which explains the book but doesn't carry the acutal content. Also after you read it make sure you read: Sun Tzu was a sissy by Stanley Bing!
a little history:
Sun Tzu was a chinese miltary strategest in the pre-han dynasty period. HE basically wrote the book on politics and warefare which are still studied to this day! His work was reffered to extensively during the Han dynasty and as such, the famous Three Kingdoms Period.
I suggest picking up a copy of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, as some reference is made to Sun Tzu Bing Fa (Sun Zi's Art of War). Otherwise RTK is an amazing story, loved by chinese, japanese and koreans alike.
Back on topic, Sun Tzu's work extensively examines human nature, and in turn, how to manipulate situations (with others) to one's advantage (great both in politics and war). The book is studied even by business students, as it teaches people how to get up the social ladder, so to speak.

Haven't finished reading it yet cause of school and work but excellent book so far.
Its not the hand you're dealt it's how you play your cards.
yes...this book is one of many that is a tribute to chinese civilization. keep in mind that it was written over 2000 years ago, and many of not most of the connotations still apply to today's world very accurately!
if you are reading this because you are interested in chinese history, then as I said above.....get Romance of the Three Kingdoms in some way shape or form (book, comics, TV series, etc.). it is the epitome of chinese history and many other famous literary pieces and infamous characters come from within this period (such as Sun Zi Bing Fa, Cao Zhi's Poetry, Guan Yu (who is now worshipped as a God by buhddists), etc.). there are some REALLY magnificent characters who hail from this period. it's amazing what the chinese were capable of 2000 years ago.
Excellent book If you are interest in military strat books give me a shout.

Some parts of the book can be pretty dry if you don't have much knowledge about Chinese history. Most of it is pretty cool though.

Reminds me of when Mike Tyson got out of jail and professed to reading Machiavelli, Mao etc. Puuhleaze Mike, you can't even spell Mao let alone read!

I bought my copy of the Sun Tzu's Art of War at Chapters.
I got the Denma Translation - supposedly best translation to date.
I'm gonna get myself a copy of a Vietnamese translation - the english language seems to be lacking for me lol.
Awesome read nonetheless.
Skyline_addict, isn't ROTK over 1000 pages long spread over 3 volumes? I'm thinking of purchasing a copy of this too.
