Default Received a ticket in Banff, can I fight it in Calgary?

Im sure this has been posted before, I just want a simple answer. I received a ticket in banff for speeding (accelerating off an off ramp...gay). Anyways Id like to bargain the ticket so that Im not hit with demerits. Can I meet with a CP here rather than Banff?

monday 10 am is the days that the court house is open here in banff, and yeah you have to come out here and talk to the Crown prosecuter(sp) on the day that is on your ticket, i went in this past monday for a similar charge and told me to come nack on my court date, because they didnt have the File on hand and couldnt do anything about it untill them

Dammit, thanks guys, its not worth it for me to take a day off work to go fight a $130 dollar ticket.

depending on whether or not your insurance will increase, it could be worth it to fight it.

i had to fight one in canmore last year (stunting $402 ) and the judge threw it out when i showed up.

That's the problem with receiving tickets outside of Calgary. No one wants to go and fight them and you end up paying them because there's no point in leaving the city to fight a ticket if you have a half-decent job.

All may not be lost. The Crown Prosecutors that prosecute in the Banff court work out of the Calgary Office. You may be able to work out a deal with them in Calgary, then have the matter waived to Calgary for guilty plea.

If you go to trial, it must be in Banff though. No two ways around that. Charges can only be moved out of jurisdiction for guilty plea.

Try contacting the Crown's office here and see if they will let you speak to the first appearance crown in Calgary.

No guarantee, but it may be worth a shot.

ok thread from the dead. took me a long time to serach for this thread.

So you can still talk to the CP in banff, but only on the day listed on the ticket and it cant be earlier? My ticket is pretty minor (15 over on highway, awesome!) I just dont want any demarits
