Default Need Some Wiring Help Please....

I have a problem and i'm not sure how to fix this.

I installed an aftermarket power window kit today. Everything works well, but when I was testing the motors to make sure they went up and down, I noticed this:

To go up, you touch the red wire to a power source, and the negative to a ground.

To go down, you touch the ground wire of the window motor to a power source, and the red wire of the window motor to a ground. (basically reverse)

Now, I have a switch but i'm unsure how I am supposed to wire this to make them go both up and down. I can make them go up, but not down.

    My question is:

    1) Can I use the existing switch to make them go up and down (I prefer to do this, looks factory)

    2) where do I draw power and ground from?

If someone can walk me through this it would be truly appreciated!

haha let me get out a pen and paper and figure this out
k, tryin to do this and my brain is starting to ache.
All you need to do is reverse the connections on the motor... so you need a switch that will change the ground to the power and the power to the ground.

    here's a wiring diagram I found for a 3rd gen F-body
    http://www.p71interceptor.com/thirdg...wschematic.jpg

here's what I get out of it:
you need 3 wires, one is a common ground.
you need a switch that will complete either one of two circuits: a) the roll-up circuit or b) the roll-down circuit
the roll-up circuit and the roll-down circuit are connected to a common power wire AND ground wire

if you don't want to get into theory that's all you need to know. if you do want to get into theory this is why it works: you are completing a circuit and since all the ground wires are connected on the "other side" of the switch (ie. grounded all the time) there will always be an open ground from the motor no matter what the position the switch is in. you only need two wires going to the motor. completing the circuit by toggling the switch will then lead power down that corresponding wire. its actually not as hard as I thought it would be (if you can read wiring diagrams).

looks like you definitely need a stock switch.

I was waiting for y0 punk ass to come here and help

Anyways, the switch I have now i'm not entirely happy with so i'll be changing that over the next day or two. By the way, awesome diagram

If you have a minute, could you draw a simple paint pic of the wiring scheme?

Thanks for the offer, but that won't work in my car. I'm going for a complete factory look or as close as possible and there isn't anywhere I can put that.

    Alright here's what I got
but for some reason, it doesn't make as much sense as the other one. I dunno why hahaha

    red = up
    blue = down

the two sides will have a common ground (the chassis I guess haha). but, for some reason this doesn't make any sense since its just going to take the shortest route to the ground which is going to be Not Through The Motor (no window rolling action). hmm.

Actually, it makes a lot more sense. I like colors.

But explain "still powers" and where does the "same deal" wire go to?

haha "Still Power" means that that is "Still The Power Wire"
and "Same Deal" is the other door, it is the exact same as the other one.

did the switch you have come with the kit? or is it another switch?

i think bumpin talon basically has the right idea.

what you probably need is a reversible switch. basically, when its in the middle state, it doesnt do anything, and its an open circuit. when its in the forward state, the connections are forward, and when its in the reverse state, the connections are reversed.

if you were to use a regular switch, then when it is open, the circuit is open, and when its closed, the circuit can only be connected that one way.

Where can I get a reversible switch from? And even with all of the wiring above, can't I just use a regular switch?

Switch was my own, I was too cheap to buy the one that was optional for the kit I wasn't entirely convinced that it would fit too

you could get a reversible switch from wherever you can find power window kits.. if you put up a WTB somebody must have one layin around, there would probably be dozens in junk yards, eBay.. there might also be some at Home Depot (but they will be ugly house switches) and you might be able to find generic switches at Canadian Tire, Autozone, UAP/NAPA that would be more suited to a car. radio shack might have one as well.

you could also look for a "three position switch" and then do the rest of the wiring yourself, since the wiring diagrams me & soupey have only have a few connections to the switch itself with everything else taken care of internally. that way, you could have to do some more wiring, and it also probably won't look nice or feel like a car switch (not spring centering).

Are all power window switches reversible?

    I would guess so, yeah
I don't see how they would do it otherwise, maybe a combination of a couple switches but that be complicating it more then it really needs to be.

well if you want it to look oem, i would just get a switch for power windows, from a junkyard or something, and modify it to work. just test what wire connects to what, if the colours dont give it away, by wiring it to something.

i am sure you could get a switch like you need from crappy tire or home depot or even some electronic store, but it wont look like it belonged in the car, thats all.

The retard at Autovalue told me that it was a "special module that we can't get" that controls everything
