2 weeks back i spent 3 hrs detailing and it rained for 2 mins. Enough to give me spaced water spots on an otherwise shiny black. I got the California water blade now, so if it rains on the way home...i just blade it off in the garage

I put several long, fine scratches in my car's paint doing that before I knew better. The blade should only be used on a freshly washed (not just pressure washed) car, or else it's dragging dirt specks across your paint. Please don't do it!

    Here's my shiny car:

I'd have to agree with Cam, I find with mine if you don't have plenty of water on the surface after a fresh wash it can scratch the car quite easily. I don't think I would ever water blade my car unless it was just washed since just driving it around Calgary picks up alot of dirt and dust.

I just spent 4 hours detailing my car but alas no pics. Doesn't matter though because I detailed it not only is it going to rain in a day or two, but it's going to rain for like 3-4 days after that. Probably off and on but nonetheless annoying since it just leaves more and more water spots on the car.

Damn! I figured it would be doin that, so thats why i was trying it just on the hood and windows. no matter how hard it rains, the whole car does not get washed and can still see dirt on the sides and rear. Figured the hood gets the brunt of the rain, so that would clear off dirt. Eh, might as well not bother cleaning till we are guaranteed no rain for like 5days+ Thnx

The hood is the worst place to use those things. Id only use them on the windows.

For what it's worth I've never had a problem with my water blade and I've been using it for four years on every car I've owned. The trick is to keep it clean and wipe it down after every swipe. I use a microfiber drying towel to dry after the water blade to pick up the rest of the spots.

I've used it on the entire car after washing the car without problems. Detail shops use it as well . I got the California water blade because its the only blade that actually conforms to the curves of my ride. Just have to use it at the right time and do it properly.

The best way to dry your car is to use a low pressure high volume amount of water (running hose) to sheet the water off the car immediately after washing, this will get most of the water off. A microfibre towel will take care of the rest. A shop vac is good to blow the water out of the cracks too.

    My absorber RULES!

I buy a new one every year now cause they don't pick up water after a while like they do when they are new.

I had a california blade and it too wore out and started leaving streaks like a mofo.

I ONLY hand wash my car at my shop so I always have compressed air to use. Works wonderfully. :P

I just love the feeling of driving out with a perfectly clean chiney ass black car Makes me feel like I'm sporting my best armani suit, ya know
