Default Ever Notice the Way that Rearview Mirrors are Installed?

I just drove to edmonton today and had a good 2 1/2 hrs to check out the cars that I passed. I was alone, bored, and had nothing to do but I did notice that ALL japanese vehicles I saw today had their mirrors installed to the headliner, and ALL domestic cars to the windshield...

Are there exceptions to this rule? Why is it that each country so strictly does it in one way or another?

Yeah the headliner makes sense, did you check euro cars? Theyre on the windshield as well in most cases.

    That's how bored I was

But it's cool to see exceptions. I swear EVERY car I saw the whole way there was in the fashion above (never saw any Euros)

its gay if its on the windshield..cuz when you have your windshield replaced or something wouldnt you have to rip it off?

and when i had it on my sundance it kept falling off haha
headliner is way better looks nicer too and you can keep the inside of the windshield clean behind it

My 240's is on the headliner, we were taking off my shift knob and my buddy hit it and it took 15 mins to figure out how to put it back on.

I have noticed this before, my cavalier rearview would always block my vision of the right side because it was placed so low on the windshield. The integra has it on the headliner and I think it's a much better design.
