    Default Is compustar worth it?

I was thinking of getting a compustar for my car. I have the factory immobilizer chip thingy so I need that bypassed. Is this even worth the cash or is this alarm so so.. Also, who would you guys recomend to install it? I am not down with Quinn though

    BWAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHHAHA!!!!!!!

the only advantage of a compustar is that it is "2-way"
you can find alarms that are 2-way that are just as good but won't cost as much,

also an alarm is only as good as the install, you can buy the best alarm but if only protects your door and has an impact sensor, thieves can still break a window to get in, open your trunk, pop your hood and cut your siren or battery connection ect.

...It's not what you install it's how you install it.

no matter what system you choose just make sure you have hood protection, trunk protection, a starter kill, and possibly a "glass-break" sensor.

even the simplest of alarm are capable of this.

    Yeah what he said!

The install is the most important part of any alarm. I would recommend AutoDream to install it for you. I think it's great to have an alarm/starter combo. The range is amazing. I love being able to tell when my car has started and if my doors are locked or not.

I notice a lot of people rave about the Compustar alarm system, but at the same time I also hear about a bunch of people that have the alarms fail on them, and do weird shit. So whats the dilly? What does a compustar do that a cheaper 2way system cannot do?

I think compustar is more expensive cuz it looks 'cool'...has the nifty remote which everyone loves to play with.

As an alarm, it doesn't seem very good unless you add on extra stuff like 12V said.

Hmmm.. yeah, I heard autodream is pretty good. The only thing that worries me is someone finding the key because I need one in the car to bypass the immobilizer. Maybe I will look around and see what is good. Lots of people tell me that an alarm is a waste and if "someone wanted to steal your car, it will be stolen." I don't buy that though

You don't have to worry about someone finding the key if you break off the key part. That's what my friend did with his lude.

Alarm is a theft deterrent device, not theft protection.

I believe the factory immobilizer is a better immoibilzer than the ones that come with alarms.

any alarm out there, that rated their opperating range of 1/4 mile, and can opperate at 1/8 mile that is really good. but compustars will most likely to work 2-3 blocks away. I have many customers that comes back to buy a new siren, because someone tried to break into their vehicle. these people were never mad because the remote let them know which sensor was trip. No matter how fast the thieve is at openning the hood to cut the siren. he can't stop the alarm from paging the remote.
sometime people say that their compustar was going crazy, but 80% of the time was that the customer turn on some thing that they didn't know.

Well than learn to buy it. If a thief wants your car, he will get it.

Alarms are great at startling a thief, even causing him to lose interest, but if that doesn't happen, and he is any good, nothing short of a naked fat chick or a pitbull will ward him away.

Compustar Was the original 2-way system. Spend the extra cash on this unit it IS worth the money, It is the only unit i have ever had in the accord and always will be. I have installed everthing there is to install out there and it is still the best.

I have had two compu-star alarms and I love it! No problems for me! I can start my car from campus (Sait-Heritage Hall) while parked at Lot 1! Big open lot across from the train station! haha

Sounds good. I think I will save up and get it put in. It does cost a lot, but I guess it is better than the factory POS

there are new and better paging alarm systems coming out every month, all the major manufacturers now offer them,
...command start, astro start, Directed (viper) ect. Ive installed many different types of two way systems and never had a problem with any of them,
...Alladin is the only one I would say ive seen problems with.

I have been installing command start for about six years. and the avarage of command start that comes back was about 65%. maybe this was one of the reason that they went bankrupt last year. astro start is not a bad unit, but for some reason there are not many people selling them.
