Talked to my office yesterday, they said it didn't look good for summer. Don't count on any work til Q3.

Frac crews are apparently picking up for summer work, but that's mostly to get to the backlog of wells already drilled. My opinion is that drilling isn't going to pick up nearly as quickly.

Anyone get positive news yet? Heard of a few big contracts changing hands recently. Have a few friends mobilizing for month end. Was given a one-off well myself next week.

Small blip or positive momentum change?

It's tender season at a lot of companies, but from what I know, they aren't really ramping up much, just re-bidding to test the market, and see which of the service companies will work for the lowest. I have heard of some folks going to a "reverse-auction" system for vendors, and I've also heard of that system being used for field hands. In my opinion, that's going to be a mess, but hey, worth a shot I guess.

If Jimmy-john will work for $250/day plus sub, then why hire Joey for $700? All DD's and MWD's are the same, right?

I was offered to start in mid June but couldn't go. A couple companies I know will be busy. Licenses expiring and service companies offering discounts helps the smaller guys.

Still lots of work with completion pads on gas rigs, most companies and consultants I have been talking to are waiting until fall until they start to ramp up production pads. It's a fucking bidding war out there for work though. Be prepared to make 40-60% less for rate.

Sorry for bumping the old thread, wondering if any company is hiring for wireline logging or mwd?

Bumping this for anyone interested. The directional work load has been increasing over the last few years. Not as good as it used to be, but companies are hiring again.

I got out a few years ago, but still get calls from old contacts asking if I'll come back. If anyone here is an experienced EM MWD hand (bonus for Sharewell Electrotrac or EVO-One experience) looking for work, send me a message and I'll pass you a lead to get you work for the next couple months at least.
