    Default Chicken Pox

So there I was living the normal life of a 21 year old working my summer jobs and waiting for school to start up again...

then I suddenly come down with chicken pox. I can tell you guys I have never felt so owned before in my life. I can't believe my parents didn't recall if I've ever had them (apparently not) and now I am experiencing day 2 of utter hell.

I read there are more complications with the older you are when you get them, but I'm only 21 so I should be safe yea?
Also NEVER scratch as you will turn into The Incredible Scar...
If they made a Star Craft movie I'd audition as the Infested Terran...

Anyone with any tips or advice on smoothing out this hellish week or should I just end myself right now? :

Yea I got that stuff as well but I hate how it leaves this nasty residue on the skin though...

It kinda sucks since I don't even feel well enough to play games all I've been doing is taking meds, trying to sleep in irregular intervals and sitting and browsing the web for 30 mins till I feel like I need to die again...

yep, the symptoms are worse (stronger) as you get older.

all you can really do is wait it out buddy, kinda shitty that there isn't a real remedy for it, other than taking a bath in calamine lotion . get well soon!

    It may be shingles...
As far as I know, those are the adult version of chicken pox.

^^ Nah, they're a different kind of skin issue. My grandmother gets them fairly frequently.

When I have kids, the second one of their friends gets the chicken pox I am sending my son/daughter over to play. The earlier the better for kids and sure they feel yucky, but just like Kamen said, he's in sheer hell right now and he has to take a week or two off from his life to suffer!

Kamen apparently cool baths help a little bit...good luck! Eat ice cream too. It doesnt help, but it does make you feel better inside!

Well I went to see my doctor and he said they were definately chicken pox since I never had them when I was young.
Also it is impossible to have shingles without first having chicken pox since the virus doesn't activate and stay dormant until after the pox.
Shingles affects the trunk and side of the face and just tears the nerves right up supposedly...I definately don't have that.

Yea thanks Mel, I ate some jellow today and man did that feel good inside...even though I have no appetite at all from the meds...
    Painful way to lose weight!

    Pics?

Anyway, now is your chance to have some fun. Run around in an area with a lot of kids pretending to be the boogieman.

They have vaccine for infants - varicella vaccine, shot at 1yr.

Also for adults, but you have to pay I believe.

Here's a blurp from Calgary Health Region.

    ---------
One shot given at 1 year of age, if there is no history of chicken pox disease. Current catch-up programs are in place for children who havenot had the disease at 4½ years of age and ingrade 5. Two shots, four weeks apart, are needed if the person is 13 years or older and has not already had chickenpox or the vaccine. People, 13years of age and older, who have not hadchicken pox disease, need to have a blood test before proceeding with vaccine.
