I have no problem admitting that, I never claimed to have any special handeling abilities. Of course a 5.0L is all drag strip, no a course car.Originally posted by MK3HKS

you should give car & driver a call. apparently youre better than their professional drivers. you could probably make some good cash!Originally posted by Moe Man
i dont care what your numbers say and weight and all....i have driven both, a 350z and g35 coupe and 4 door, and have driven many 5.0l's. 350z and g35 felt the exact same. but every 5.0l is different some are fast as fuck some are slow ( these were all stock ). personally if you found a 5.0l with 0 km on it and raced it against the 350z, 5.0l would win. not because it is a crazy car but because the 350z and its brother g35 are not that fast. trust me
Good point HAHAHA!! Because those damn car and driver testers must be so horrible at that type of thing!!Originally posted by googe

the supra!
i dont know the stang will always be better in my book
i like the 300z, its nice to have something for the track and a litle something for the strip
300zx are nice but i dont like the 350 much
Hahahahah i actually raced my buddy's 5.0 with the z.....long story short .......going from 50 kph the 5.0 won. From standing start the Z won at about two/three cars lengths( raced 5 times,4 standing starts and one rolling start) all with the same out come.
Oh the first race from standing start, I had vdc on and he got a jump on me but, i cought up.
5.0 are fast cars.........i'm just to poor to turbo the Z just yet.
I've got some old motor trend "bang for the buck" issues from 1992 - 1994 there was an LX 5.0L because it was lighter & cheaper than the GT and later the restyled GT. Put is this way. Plymouth Lasers, Eagle Talons, Mitsubishi Eclipse, MR2 turbo's were all faster 0-60 & 1/4 mile. We know the 350Z is faster than those cars so you guys can figure out the rest. This is all bone stock as the original poster said. If were talkin the 3-valve new mustang it's a different outcome but the 2-valve Ford F150 4.6L engines suck ass.
lol does that mean my 1990 laser can beat a stang? i dont think so my friend ^^^^^ maybe i didnt read ur post good but yeah
Whoa we went from 5.0 vs 350Z to Cobra R and 350z to 300zx, now were into DSM's?? WTF happened?
Ok, i just dug this up on Supercars.net so i dunno how accurate it iis as this site can be pretty inaccurate at times:
94 Mustang GT (newer body style same 5.0) runs 0-60 in 6.6 and teh 1/4 mile in 15.0
http://www.supercars.net/cars/2153.html
and all I can get on the 350Z is that it has 280hp and 260lb/ft
and that Z fan's 350Z has run high 14's... I think....

lol ^^ i know eh
5.0 is $5000
350 is $55000
The difference in 1/4 mile is minimal stock to stock. But when do you see a stock 5.0? Uh, never. Most 5.0's will walk on most 350's.
Add in the cost, and the winner is clear...
Hahaha, good ol' bench racing.
I think the most constructive thing about this thread is that it made me realize that I can't even remember the last time I saw a stock 5.0.

You guys see where I'm going with this. If the Mustang isn't as fast as those cars, it surely isn't as fast as a 350Z. Apparently most people already know this as the voting shows but stock for stock those mustangs aren't that fast. If we were talking about a car powered by a real performance V8 engine (ie. Z28) it would be a whole different story.

there are plenty of car that are faster than other for 1/10 the price, that doesnt make it any better and not all most people care about, its not if they wanted a fastcar someone would buy a 15 yr old stang isntead of a 350Z......its great that the stang can hang with it, but by no means does that make them comparable cars
One of the car Mags in '87 or '88 pre-mass air flow 5.0's did a test on a stock Notchback. The result was 14.6 and 0-60 in 6.0. Later I belive Mustangs and Fast fords in the 80's did a test and hit 14.4 so they are faster than 15's.Originally posted by heavyD

Muscle Mustang & Fast Fords ran a [email protected] in a 2-valve slushbox (automatic). High 13s should be do-able with a 5 speed.
Got the ultimate mustang shootout dvd in my collection, but here's the article based on it on their webpage.

Obviously there's sacrifices that are made with convertibles so I'm not gonna pretend that my car is fast. But it really is a blast to boot around in.

yeah thats another thing like what that other guy said look at the price what car u would u buy for speed? haha
