I say stock to stock, if the mustang had for example only 20,000Km on it. It would all depend on the driver. But when was the last time you say a 5.0L with only 20K Km??? lol
350z
5.0L

Not this is a good discussion.

there are the RS models which are basically a TSi AWD, which will beat a 5L stock for stock
uh yeh, your talking about the 4wd sedan or 2wd sedan, last time i checked, 4wd weighs quite a bit more..Originally posted by Moe Man
i dont care what your numbers say and weight and all....i have driven both, a 350z and g35 coupe and 4 door, and have driven many 5.0l's. 350z and g35 felt the exact same.
enough of this straight line crap, send em on Laguna Seca and tell me who'll win?
Why don't we get someone with a stock 5.0 and a stock 350Z and have a race at Racecity.
My money is on the 5.0

And mine is on the 350Z, stock vs. stock. 5spd stang vs. 6spd 350Z
I guarantee the stang will walk on the 350Z out of the hole and will be able to hold him off till the end of the 1/4. The Z may start to reel him in but it will be over before he passes him
If its a legit 93 Cobra the thing should be just as fast, i've seen them run 14.1/2 stock (sea level). Stock for stock as 1 might expect, the 50k Z should beat the normal fox though in most areas.
As has been said, aftermarket is wild for the 5.0s though.
that being said too, it's rare to find a stock 5.0 lol.

no, YOUR laser wont beat one but and AWD turbo will, yea...those v8's with str8 pipes SOUND like a beast. the rumbling sound
ahhaha what if i turbo my laser :P
Not a stock one. How do I know, cause I own an AWD Turbo Talon and my stang would absolutely smoke it.

do you realize though that this has already been tested and proven wrong?Originally posted by 89coupe

i dunno whats with all the "would" and "wills", there is more than enough data available on both cars motor trend for 1 did the 1/4 in 13.77 with their Z. thats better than the 2001 cobra. forget the 93
So I know we're comparing an old 5.0L with a brand spanking new 350Z. Which isn't unreasonable, so not to get to far off topic, but for the sake of comparing new to new and even though they're convertibles. Here's some info compiled by motor trend (deemed as reputable by most) for the 350Z convertible VS. 05 Mustang GT Convertible. I'm still trying to look for comparison somewhere on the coupes but anyway for those that wanna read click on.

350Z was faster through the slalom though

yea.....YOUR mustang with over 400 horse , but stock for stock, their 1/4 mile times are pretty much the same every site ive checked, plus AWD launches OWNZ!! , so it all depends on the driver..
but yea, now back on topic, this isnt a dsm vs. stang thread.

an AWD it... but thats to much money to dump into a N/A dsm, just buy a TSi AWD or the RS, then u got a beast
my car is a RS
2.0L
if your dont have a turbo its not an RS, cuz RS is Turbo...
