If only he would have done this earlier... perhaps none of this would have happened.

Best news I've heard yet, but not really surprised. It had to happen.

Hey dont hate the guy for doing his job.. he was hired to be the voice of the union.. and all union members didnt want a cap.. and now that the players realized there is no other means.. they had to cross over.. leaving Goodnow high and dry.. not that im a fan of him.. for wrecking the season.. but all the players are to blame as well.

A combination of things led to the loss of the 04/05 season.

Goodenow was piece of garbage. Sure he may have been doing his job, but he sure prolonged the lockout a heck of a lot. Doing things like saying he didn't believe the NHL financial statements sure did a lot of damage. He was living in a dream world where he wanted every player to make more and more, a 1.6 million average per player wasnt good enough for him. to a greedy bastard.

It was his arrogance and irrational negotiating that prolonged this process. His complete denials at the beginning that the league was loosing money, saying there are inconsitencies in the reports, but down the road, he offers a 24% rollback. What for if there not loosing money? If there was someone else leading them they likely wouuld have started talks before December and there could have been a 04/05 season.
