    Default RE: Dell heat issues

I mentioned earlier that I was having heat issues in the Dell Dimension 8400- with the vid card specifically.

Talking to Dell got me nowhere.

What have I done? Opened the case and pointed a fan at it and the temps dropped by 40*C!

I will never buy another dell again. There isn't even a case fan to ventilate the heat in the case, save for the one on the PS and one on the CPU.

    Bullshit, total bullshit.

unfortunately, there isn't much you can do. Dimension line never receive much engineering attention and also rush out the door as soon as new hardware is out.

There isn't much you can do except may be buy a water cooling solution to take the heat out of the case.

i've had nothing but problems with Dell support over a fan that is starting to go in my dimension 4550. damn fan goes wrrr wrrr wrrr sounds like it's getting reaedy to die. talked to dell and they did fuck all. warranty isn't even up yet. want me to trouble shoot the fan......how the hell do you troubleshoot a fan? yes i've stuck a pen in the fan to stop it from spinning. yes it does spin!?!?!?! dell pricks.

ordering it initally was just as bad. 2 weeks late, nightmare dealing with the customer service department.......never again.

Yeah well I wonder how they get the soft flowing caramel inside the Caramilk bar but you don't see me making a god damn thread about it. Slap your wife Baygirl, straighten him out.

I've decided that I'm gonna have to take things into my own hands. Since there's no way for me to mount a resivior or a fan to ventilate the air inside the case, I'm just going to swap cases.

It's going to be a PITA because of the way they've mounted the motherboard to the case, so I might scrap it if it takes too much energy.

I am going to drill a hole in the top of the case and the left side for an induction fan and a blowhole.

I'll let you know how it goes.
