Previously I was in banking doing mortgages, lines of credit, investments, and managing families with their accounts accounts when spouse or parent had died (estates). And on many occasions fixing peoples financial profile so they can move onto the next life stage (debit restructuring or mortgage/credit application pre-work).
I left banking and worked on databases at a grocery chain till I was laid off. I was still being consulted for fixing peoples financial profiles and helping people plan for financial life events.
So decided to use that knowledge. What was to be a 20 minute chat with a very senior manager ended up being a three hour conversation. Ive changed careers and moved into a Life Insurance and Financial Advice(TFSA, RRSP, Segregated Funds, Estate planning etc) with the Cooperators.
Knowing the banking sector has been a good resource in understanding wealth and credit. So knowing both industries has been useful in creating and preserving peoples wealth.
The majority of what I do is educating people. i.e Life insurance is also a great tool to transfer wealth and not pay taxes etc.
I lead by example. Ive come here with nothing as a immigrant, was borderline homeless at one point and im financial stable now with my own place. Ive watched family members die of disease, arranged funerals and had friends struck down by critical illness. So I know the baseline numbers at the extremes and how to navigate when shit happens or prepare for it.
There is also huge difference between the industries and what companies offer in terms of benefits.
If anyone wants a second opinion or just wants have a insurance product explained over a nice cup of tea (yeah i said it, TEA not coffee) and how it fits into your financial profile over the long term. Im happy to chat.

Lol!
To be honest, the last 5-6 years in Alberta has been enough to age any young, motivated professional to oblivion.
True dat

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

I’m 26 and already have a cul-de-sac (I just shave it all though). Brothers and dad have full heads of hair, but I’m taller than all of them, so fair trade-off??This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
30 - Completions Engineer. Moved from a large O&G service provider to a small (like 8 people small) engineering consulting firm and really enjoying actually learning something again. I've got a few side things on the go that, if successful, will be a completely new career and my ticket out of O&G.But until then I'll just drill and complete wells I suppose.
Also Killramos I swear we've probably cross paths at some point in time but I definitely thought you were much older based on your posts here.

Thanks for the 14 years of LOLs. Govern yourselves accordingly and avoid uppercut reactions!
Can't believe it's been 10 years. Started a small structural engineering and detailing company very shortly after this post, just surpassed 100 people and 3 offices, opening a 4th office later this year. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
