A friend of mine has one, and he swears by it. It's pricey, but he says it's worth it for a good nights sleep.

It's called a alarm clock next to your bed. Also, who sleeps with a watch on?? Super uncomfortable.

    Stupid tech.

I don't think it would be very useful for most people because I'm sure 90% of people don't get enough sleep.

The article doesn't really explain how it works either - IMO it's a waste of money.

if 90% of people don't get enough sleep then this technology would be very useful.

The way it works is that it monitors your movement, movement being times when you are close to or are awake. It tracks those times through the night and then in the morning, it will adjust your alarm so that it coincides with one of the awake moments, not when you're in deep sleep. The monitoring also tells you how long your periods of sleep are, which tells you how good a night's sleep you're getting.

Why would this technology be a waste of money? How many people wouldn't pay $200 for a good nights sleep?

Not getting enough sleep isn't great, but if your awoken at the right time, then you will still feel better than if you are awoken at a not so good time.

The product may not be a waste of money
Your body has light and heavy periods of sleep.
When you are awoken during the light cycle, you feel more rested than when awoken during the heavy cycle.
There is a way to monitor how heavy or light you are sleeping, which is what the watch claims to do. Since its possible, I see no reason to dismiss this as a waste of money.
It's not like its a crappy five dollar watch, if it was, then it would be unlikely that it could do what it says, but at 150 bucks, there is a good chance that it works.

    EDIT: Lint got here first
