just strip the wires and twist them together and put on some tape, probably only 2 wires anyway (maybe 4 if it has IR/leds)This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I got this one for $30 after a promo code:
https://www.amazon.ca/Campark-Dashbo...NsaWNrPXRydWU=
I'll try remember let you know how it is. I have another camera from this company though and it is excellent. Reviews in the USA for similar products from the same manufacturer have 4,000+ positive reviews. Some of the Amazon.ca reviews are bought so I ignored them (free SD card or similar if you post a video).
You can probably just solder and tape it up or shrink wrap that back together. Those connectors are only 2 wires. It looks like you left yourself enough cable to do a splice. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
i thought that at first too, but there are 4 pins on that connector, and the camera has LED's so its likely got 2 power wires for the LEDs too, so its likely 4 wires,This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I got some help from a neighbour. He soldered it together and shrink wrapped it. Its was pretty tight, and we thought it was not going to work.
Im kinda surprised it did.
I managed to feed the read camera line through headliner on the side, across the front A pillar at the front. The rear camera feed shows in reverse. There is no ability in the options menu to correct this. Its no biggi. Im just happy it works.
I got a hard wire connector. The connector to the fuse box and hard wire mount is separate and can be attached. But the fuse connection is waay to big for my fusebox. I'l need a smaller connector. Not sure I can get one, any suggestions. I'l post pictures later.
Compared to my old dashcam, this camera is huge and very visible, I dont like it. Its not black either (metallic blue), so does not hide well in the interior shade of the car.. Suction mount and design is waaay better than my old one.
Overall for less than $40 and a rear camera. I have no complaints. I will see how the image is after I drive around for a bit.
Looking to see if anyone has any updated recommendations for good dual channel dash cams - appreciate any recommendations. Ideally one that can record without the screen being on.
Guess I never did give feedback. The dual channel in this is kind of useless, you can't adjust the angle of the camera facing the cabin, so it basically just records your right arm if you have the front camera facing the road properly. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. It does this weird thing at night. I assume it is due to the screen having backlighting for better nighttime visibility. But the screen goes bright then dark continuously if you drive on a dark road with street lamps. It's really annoying.
The boot up time seems reasonable, and I feel like it could still catch a hit and run.
Overall for the price I paid I think it is great. One of these days I'll upgrade to something higher quality, but this does the trick for now.
Viofo A129 would be my recommendationThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Best 2 channel bang for buck: Viofo A129 (Either the newest 4K Version $$$$ or the last years model 1080p $$)
1080p: https://www.amazon.ca/2-Channel-Chan...2823288&sr=8-3
4K: https://www.amazon.ca/VIOFO-Channel-...2823288&sr=8-5
Best 1 channel bank for buck: Viofo A119 V3
https://www.amazon.ca/VIOFO-A119-160...2823266&sr=8-1
Either of the Viofo's you'll want a HK3-ACC Hardwire Kit, add-a-fuse install, super easy.

If money isn't a factor: Blackvue DR900S 4K + Blackvue B124 24hour dedicated battery pack. (Current setup I have in my new Taco,' I'll have a pretty cool install/ setup video coming soon on my channel about it.)
DR900s: https://www.amazon.ca/Blackvue-DR900...2823349&sr=8-3
B-124 Battery: https://www.amazon.ca/BlackVue-Power...2823370&sr=8-2
(Note: The Battery can be used with *any parking mode dash-cam, even the Viofo!*)
I have an entire playlist mostly about Blackvue's and Viofo's (and comparing them), and a few cheaper ebay / Chinese Dashcams on my Channel if interested:

Note; I'm partnered with both Blackvue and Viofo, and recommend the cheaper Viofo to all my friends/ family.

So depends on the shipping price. But both are around $100.
BUMP.
What's a good dashcam nowadays? I've been using the DOD LS360W with teh Sony Exmore lens and it finally quit on me - hasn't recorded shit in months and I just found out...
So looking for a replacement unit.
Thanks!!!

I just got my new dash cam the other week. Im just finalising the install.. I might do a write up later.
Its the one in the link. It was about $109 all in. Shipping took a month. The reason for the change was the size and the way my current camera sits in relation to the angle of the front windscreen. The suction cup holder, length it hangs, size of the cam looked a bit too ghetto in my new car.
The new camera I ordered is smaller. It can video up to 4k. But I do it at a lower resolution. The picture quality is better in low light. It has wireless, GPS features, speed tracking and collision detection. The rear cam is 1080pi (standard is 720). The front camera sits better.
Thanks @tonytiger55 , I'll checkalook at it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

My old dashcam finally bit the dust after 10 years. It was a Blackvue and figured I'd get the same.
Reading reviews of all the high end cams, it seems like failure rate is really high across all brands and CS is unreliable.
Is there anything that's reliable, regardless of budget??
BF is coming up and hoping to get one for each vehicle

I've been running a Blackvue DR470-CH for 6 years with no issues, but it's also not running 24/7 and is only on when car is running. I think that's the key to longevity.
Also a X1PRO Rear View Mirror Dash for 4 years in my truck, and have had issues with the rear camera but I think it's because I disconnect it every time I tow (and hook it to a seperate camera attached to the back of the trailer). So the plug gets filth in it.
