I've been eating out more than normal since this nonsense started Jan.16 and don't notice anyone charging for bags. Not chain fast food mind you.
I guess I should report them all to the Gondek Single Use Bylaw Breaker hotline.
I just refuse to use them. I'm an OG Climate warrior. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The bylaw mostly pertains to that of fast food drive through services since there is so much 1 time use crap there. But don't kid yourself if you don't think businesses will slide the costs into your bill somewhere if you dine in or order from somewhere. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. the businesses dont even care to charge it, they already have that cost built in to your cost, the point of this is to bring it out and make it more transparent (and inflated) so they will be used less. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I went to COOP last night and you can’t pay the cashier .15 cents for a compostable grocery bag, but you can buy a pack of 10 for $1.50 and give them to her yourself… Madness! Absolutely fucking ridiculous bylaw.
Was told drive thru lines are now a shit show. Instead handing off in a bag or 2, people who refuse to pay for bag is now handed all the food in a tray and they have to retrieve it item by item. Wasting everyone's time idling their cars.
Who thought of this BS.
Mean while on this other side pacific, they have single wrapped banana and they burn their garbage.

If the other side of the Pacific would burn thier garbage we'd be way further ahead. Instead they throw it 8n the river and it washes out to sea.

Special thanks to the single use bylaws for mandating that my indian food come in a shitty cardboard bowl with ill fitting lid, all wrapped in a fabric fucking bag. Now my kids carseat smells like a bombay backalley and I need to try and steam clean this fucking thing in frigid winter temperatures. Fuck you climate.
Tap, Rack, BANG!
I swear we all need to carry a Rubbermaid bin for the takeout.

"It puts the food in the basket".
Bags were already given out for "free" the past 50 years, until just recently. The cost was worked into the price of the product already. But it's almost $4 for a Mcdouble nowadays. They've well worked in some healthy profits for themselves regardless of any bag laws. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I say stupid shit all the time.
Think of how much healthier we’ll be when we boycott all this takeout and drive thru.

And nobody cared or changed and the same thing here. People may put up a stink for a week or two but then eventually just return as a good little commercially brain washed sheep.
So, assume we have a consensus between most reasonable people that this is pretty stupid. Does anyone think we have a chance of seeing it reversed/relaxed?
I doubt it, but dare to dream.
January is fast food extravaganza season. Nearly every major chain pumps out coupons to counter all the fatties who have NY Resolutions to "eat better and wobble through some mild downhill walks".
But to bjstare's question, no I don't think so. It takes a while to walk back hysteria.
