The Calgary Police Service has charged four people in
connection with a five-week-long investigation into a cocaine
trafficking and manufacturing operation.
On Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, members of the District 4
Special Duties Team concluded the investigation, which
resulted in the execution of two Controlled Drugs and
Substances Act (CDSA) search warrants at residences in the
communities of Forest Lawn and Hidden Valley.
Several culprits, as well as cocaine conversion labs, were
discovered in each of the residences.
The following items were seized from the two residences:
• 1.8 kilograms of cocaine with a street value of
$183,620
• Two handguns and ammunition
• 10.6 grams of ecstasy, with a street value of $760
• Items used to convert powder cocaine to crack
cocaine
• Several edged weapons
• Body armour
A total of four people were charged with 36 CDSA and Criminal
Code charges.
Lisa NGUYEN, 25, of Calgary, has been charged with production
of cocaine, possession of property obtained by crime, and
five firearms-related offences.
Eric Thomas TSE, 24, of Calgary, has been charged with
possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking,
possession of ecstasy for the purpose of trafficking, two
counts of production of cocaine, two counts of possession of
property obtained by crime and eight firearms and weapons
-related offences.
Ryan Park Hung LI, 26, of Calgary, has been charged with
production of cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose
of trafficking, possession of ecstasy for the purpose of
trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and
four firearms and weapons-related charges.
Stefan LEE, 28, of Calgary, has been charged with production
of cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of
trafficking, possession of ecstasy for the purpose of
trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and
three firearms and weapons-related charges.
Inspector Ray Robitaille of District 4 and Acting Staff
Sergeant Gord Eiriksson of the Organized Crime Operations
Centre will be available to speak with the media today,
Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the District 4 Office,
3207 12 Ave. N.E.
Some of the seized items will be on display at the
availability.
