I always like to buy from Costco. They deliver and haul away for free. 2 years of warranty and a cheap extended warranty (I never bother).

Again it's a pure gamble, and like any extended warranty, it is very carefully priced such that the company still makes tons of extra money compared to the number of expected claims. If it gives you peace of mind then you have to decide the value that is attached to that. I'd look at average repair costs for commonly failed parts in whatever you buy and go off that. Personally I don't buy them and I've never had an issue but I am a small sample size. I haven't bought so many warranties that when something does happen, the repair cost will likely be a lot less than the sum of all the warranties I didn't buy haha. YMMV of course. I might be more inclined to get it on a Miele or something more "exotic" than if I got a basic cookie-cutter Maytag machine, for example. These are not really complicated machines, especially if you don't buy the European ones or those full of extra electronic features. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I think the LG dryer I had came with a 10-year warranty on the drive mechanism.
Also keep in mind your credit card very likely extends the warranty by one year.
Make sure to buy ones with doors that open the right way which depends on the layout of your laundry room. I only mention this because Home Depot advertised our set as having reversible doors which was great until I found out only the dryer had the option, and the washer door opens the wrong way so it needs to be closed to get past it to load clothes into the dryer. 1st world annoyance, I know. Probably not as big of a deal when stacked (ours are side by side).
Got the lg3700 pair with the sidekick and the pedestal in November for 2800 from Costco. It's 2500 now
The delivery people picked up my old pair and even set up the two washers for me, I didn't think that's included. Go Costco if they have what you want.
Completely forgot about Costco!! The $800 Costco cash back cheque we just got will come I'm handy! Haha.
Thanks again for the feedback! Looks like were gonna go with the LG pair for $1800.
Bumping an old thread.
Our Samsung front load washer is acting up. It is about 6 years old. Looks like the control board needs replacement.
Given the age of the washer does it worth repairing? We have been quoted that the control board replacement will be around $400.
For a new washer and dryer what is a best option out there? LG? Samsung?

Buy whatever is cheapest with the features you want. They are all disposable.
Repair only if you can get up front all in pricing on the repair.
I like LG if only for their fixed price out of warranty repair program, though no guarantee that doesn’t get cancelled.

Didn't know about the fixed Price out of warranty repair Program.
Have you looked up what the control board costs to buy yourself? Dishwashers are pretty simple to repair often. Although deciding what parts you need can be hard for us amateurs, it sounds like someone already did that?

Since the thread has been bumped, our washer failed last July. (forget the code) turns out it was the drain pump. A fairly easy repair once you get the front off. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
While I was in there I noticed the inlet valve starting to leak, replaced it. Upon further thought we've never been 100 %happy with the dryer, auto doesn't dry fully, manual for 60 minutes usually gets it done. Never bothered to look into it.
Yes we called Summer Breeze Appliance repair (They did a lot of work on our Samsung fridge before Samsung decided to cut the loss ).This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Samsung Inverter board is around $200 and then the usual assessment and service charges brings the total to ~$400.
Well, attempting the repair yourself is an option.

Yes that's for sure an option. It looks like a pretty easy swap based on the videos I have seen. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
As they say down at the truck stop, forty bucks is forty bucks..... Or two hundred.

I've repaired the door seal on the washer, and the belt and heater on the dryer.
They're both very simple devices. Dryers especially.
Check youtube before you hire a guy, could be pretty easy if you're handy.
