I'm guessing $4499-$4799 CAD, somewhere in there. I feel like they will want to stay under the $5K mark. Exchange rate has improved considerably as well, but we might not see that up front (only on the "add to cart" prices). If it does come in around that price, the 5DM4 at $4500 will be even more outrageous. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
That has pretty much always been what Nikon does. They have never been afraid to release cannibalizing bodies, for better or worse. The D800 made the D3X irrelevant at 1/3 the price, The D300 made the D2Xs worthless, the D700 with a grip was almost identical to the D3, The D750 replaced the D3s for a lot of people at half the price, etc. They released the D500 which does most of what the D5 does (albeit with a crop sensor) for 1/3 the price even down to the last details, like the dedicated AF processor. Even their $500 models have features only found on Canon's 1-series. They put similar quality sensors in their $400 cameras as they do their $2000 cameras. They stick to things like AF, FPS, and the "pro" control layout to differentiate their lineups rather than crippling every little tiny thing. They even use similar build quality (partial magnesium skeleton with carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic for the front/mirrorbox) on all their bodies from the D7XXX and up.
