Aspen doesn't have city blocks, so they are immune.

I believe we have infrastructure to accommodate up to 5 EV's charging per city block is the quote I heard.
    Aspenz gunna be screwed first.
Lol. When? At peak demand? At 2am? When the dryer and stove are running? At 1pm when AC going full tilt?

    Sounds like hogwash to me.

Every house can charge at least 2 EVs at once when no other high demand stuff is running.

    This is obviously false.

Your clothes dryer takes 2-4 kW while running. Your central air is 1-2.5kW. An electric range is 1.5kW while an electric oven can be 3kW.

    Most EV chargers are 10kW.

Everyone uses lots of power as it is already, a few EVs on your block isn’t magically going to implode the grid. Not to mention it’s quite simply for the smart chargers to have charging schedules to top up after midnight when the grid demand is low.

everybody knows the govt is always reactive and never proactive, that's why i support overloading the system, the sooner it's a problem, the quicker it moves up the priority list.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

Not a bad strategy since we don't get "off peak" discounts for residential.

I knew I smelled BS. My stove is on a dedicated 50amp circuit. That's 10kw there!

I'm looking at "level 2 home chargers", I see most are self regulating upto 7kw.

I see that a few dedicated circuit ones can reach 11kw, and again seem to self regulate.

How does it work, can you plug in when you get home, then choose a time to charge, limit rate etc??

As it is during a heat wave and when it’s really cold, we are at near full capacity, how on earth will we be able to add a 50-100 amp load to that(per household) and expect to not have problems at night

It’s so unrealistic that it’s stunning that anybody thinks this will work

Your are very sure yet missed the point all together.

But I am of the "build it and they will come", and "necessity is the mother of will."

If there's a problem, yo, we'll solve it!!!

No problem so far that I have seen. I mean, no more than climate change making residential air conditioning in Calgary common place.

See, its circular. Round, like a circle.

Just like the budget DID. Amazing. To think I doubted the wisdom of the idea that growing the economy is more important than slashing and burning everything.
