worst part is definitely when the dudes smacking it with his dick like that inside out anus owes his dick some money.
I fucking hate CFL bulbs. Twice the price, and in my experience don't last a single bit longer than a normal incandescent.

I got a huge sack of those "project porchlight" CFL bulbs, so I'm using them pretty much all over my house. If I would have had to buy them myself, I would not be as enthusiastic.

Its still 2012 for the Canadian light bulb ban?
What a horrible law. In cold climates, its insanity to outlaw a device that "wastes" electricity and makes completely unusable heat You know, heat that keeps people alive, lol.
Unbelievably smart idea. Increasing the price of the bulb to donate to, say, alternative energy sources seems like a better way to go for now. Meanwhile, turn your lights off when you don't need it...
Is there really going to be a ban on lightbulbs in 2012? I personally run CFL bulbs inside and it's great, but outdoors, CFL bulbs are going to die faster in the winter time (or even not work).
This is silly, the mercury in CFL are really bad for the environment. Also CFL does last longer, but the trick is that CFL cannot take being frequently turned on and off like say in the washroom, they only last long when they are used for long period of times a use.
That then brings up the question, they save energy, but how much more energy does it take to produce a CFL in comparison to a conventional light bulb?
I've had CFL bulbs in every bathroom in my current house and my last house (and will be putting them in my next house). The frequent on/off thing seemed to have no impact on the bulbs since after more than 2 1/2 years of being on/off at least 20 times per day the bulbs in the bathroom at my last place still came on instantly and had no issues. I did use outdoor rated ones because I was concerned about the moisture / humidity in there however.Originally posted by derpderp

As for the outside argument, yeah, CFL bulbs SUCK when it is -30 outside, most won't even light up at all. For those situations I guess the only option would be LED bulbs?

I just came from a lighting seminar and this was covered in Canada only t12 and all variants will be made illegal to sell in stores and actually no t12 bulb has been produced since 2009 and manufacurers are just unloading all their remaining stock.Originally posted by ZenOps

Incandescent are staying around.
There doing this because t12 are so horribly inefficient for a HID bulb.
T8 or the newer T5 will be the norm withing 2 years.
