^ who knows, they could have done a lot of work for a builder who went bankrupt and went subsequently unpaid. Pretty common now.
I was laid off from what I thought was a long term job
I was laid off from a job I had no intention of staying at anyways
I'm still plugging away at my pre-recession job
I willing switched jobs/careers or industries
I was laid off or quit and haven't found meaningful work yet
We're all fucked!
Combination of the above / Other

And Westridge bought Classic Kitchens last fall and absorbed their operation. Know a few cabinet installers who were subbing to Westridge and their payout structures on their jobs was quite different than anyone else in the industry, I would bet that those installers are happy they left. It will be interesting to see which companies get Westridge's work, from what I've heard the quality of the installs of their product was very poor in the past few months. Might be a good opportunity for an old fart like me to fix up some of that shit. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Will fuck off, again.
A downhole coil tubing tools company did 35 layoffs yesterday. This was their first "big" round since the start of the recession

I just got some intel where rumor has it another pretty big gas company is hours away from death. It'll be interesting to see if that's true and who drops next.

Forgot to mention.... picked up a turnaround/projects pipefitter while driving for Uber last week who told me Keyera is finally shutting down their Nevis gas plant operation. Permanently.
Grew up not too far from this facility and honestly, it's been a long time coming.
Looking around
Wondering what became
Of what I once knew
Westridge Cabinets has apparently promised that all employees and subcontractors will be paid out to the end of July for all work performed. This should ensure that most cabinet install jobs that are currently on site or that have been produced will get installed. It's the bigger projects that will be interesting as those builders will now be scrambling to find other cabinet companies to take over those jobs.
Will fuck off, again.
Make @speedog great again
Sounds like things are still pretty slow in calgary. Im moving back pretty soon, got a call back for a company i was laid off from in 2015.

Was told yesterday that our parent company is pulling the plug on us, everyone will be packaged out sometime in the next couple of months. The US O&G market is starting to slide enough that they're tightening belts and pulling funding from most of their technology upgrades.
Good times.
People are being laid off where I work quite heavily. They've also implemented a cost savings initiative that basically scraps all training, parties and other good stuff for the next year. One of the big GC's.
Long time coming or knee-jerk with recent recession speculations?
Ultracrepidarian
For us it was a result of a dropping rig count in the US and nothing positive on the horizon. The desire to innovate is pretty heavily tied to revenue and when money coming in starts to slow down R&D is usually the first to get cut. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Slowdown in US oil and gas is very concerning. Luckily my company is growing market share so that should help a lot. If we can capture a steady 1% of USA market we are going to be decent. 5% would be a ramp up, even as the activity goes down.

I'm thinking long time coming. We got lots of work, just the people managing it are idiots and now the fat has to go.
I think you might work with my wife as they were just told yesterday that they were done OCT 10.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
