Pics from the photoshoot I did for the November Theme contest. I changed the submitted pic a bit after submission based on some feedback.
The 2nd pic had a better composition than the first, but I wasn't happy with the shadows from the hair so I used the first pic instead.

^i like the colours that her dress gives off, looks good, but, why the location? i think if you had done this with a more neutral (less busy) area, or used a lower aperture to blur the background up, it may have looked better. tjhere are a lot of things taking away attention from the girl and especiallyt he platter of food.
i agree with the shadow comment about the second pic, but the first pic also has some harsh shadows too, a little post processing may have been able to save that, but its not bad either.
lastly, the girl's face is in the centre of both pictures, altho the second one has her body leaned to one side, i think it wouldve looked better if you used the rule of thirds to put the highlight of the picture (which i would say is her face) into one of the thirds of the picture.
just my opinions, i'm no pro but i think that's how i wouldve approached it. =)
It was for Nov's contest so I had a lot of constraints to work with. I've had no luck with my DOF submissions, so I decided to have no DOF bg blur at all (I did end up with very little). Funny how I almost lost to 2nd place with a DOF pic haha.Originally posted by soupey

The platter of sushi was there because it was a food theme, and I wanted to do something along the lines of an abstract magazine ad. Something just completely different, not what you would expect showing off the sushi. It's good you noticed the sushi, because that was the point lol.
The shot was lit with 1 external light. Should've used 2... would've had no problems with shadows. It was too fucking cold out tho so we just did it quick even tho we had a full setup for a 2nd light. Model was a trooper, you can't tell it's 0C hehe.Originally posted by soupey

Whoever has that girl on lock-down is a baller. Gotta go with Soupey on this one when dealing with the position of her.

For all the e-stalkers "in love" with the model, she's taken, and you don't have a chance. End of story.
I've wanted to take a pic from that location as well as walk up the ramp there for some time now. Awesome!Originally posted by D'z Nutz
