Has anyone accidentally plowed into a photo radar vehicle before? Just curious

It might be being recycled from another location so it wouldn't be considered new equipment, might be worth sending Blinky a note on it anyway. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Too loud for Aspen
Of all the many issues I have with government in general, the way Calgary deploys red light and photo radar devices is not even on the list. It's a total non-issue in my life.

The false pretense they preach about it being for safety grinds my gears. But it sounds like you guys don't really have a big problem in Calgary, as compared to Edmonton. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Which is exactly what this original thread is about. UCP try to gain support in Edmonton. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
They’re starting to do Edmonton tactics in Calgary, but yea it’s nowhere near as bad as Edmonton. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Whenever I drive to Edmonton in our work trucks, I'm actually more worried about their photo radar since I don't know the roads then the GPS tattler some of our trucks have. The tattlers are nice or give some wiggle room. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Yes. Photo radar in Calgary is what photo radar should be in that if you get a ticket, it should come with a distracted driving ticket because you're completely fucking clueless behind the wheel. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Edmonton is the epitome of cash grab nonsense driven by the worst Mayor since Stalin was a Mayor.
Pretty funny, wife got a photo radar ticket in the mail this week. Paid it and moved on with our lives. Between us, we are running less than one per year average of all types of traffic tickets.

I haven't had one in our household in over a year. However I did have 2200$ worth of fines about 5 years ago at registration renewal, between the wife and I. We have just had to accept that driving slowly is now multitudes more important than driving safely, and we have adjusted accordingly. Whether I receive any tickets or not, I'm still disgusted by the fact it is essentially theft the way this enforcement is deployed. It seems rather backwards that I am nearly taken out on an almost daily basis by some distracted driver, while the wife and I have both eaten license suspensions for cumulative minor infractions unrelated to safety. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. If cities need more tax revenue, they should be sorting this out with their property tax rates and price setting for communal services. Employing all the overhead costs of photo radar units, and police services, is a very inefficient method of capturing this income.

Should be the same as always(unless you're in Edmonton), go to the courthouse to plead not guilty, ask to speak to the CP and request a reduction. In Edmonton they don't allow you to ask any longer, you have to go to court. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
