Relating back to my thread about wearing my seatbelt, I received a ticket 3 weeks ago for not wearing a seatbelt. Today, I went online to pay it when the website was telling me that the ticket can't be found. So I call the processing centre (or whatever it's called), and they tell me that the ticket hasn't been entered into their system. Again, it's been 3 weeks - 22 days to be exact.
According to the operator, my options are:
1) To go to a registry and pay a ticket that's not in the system. This could also lead to $7-$10 in administration fees;
2) Mail my payment for a ticket that's not in the system;
3) Go to the courthouse to pay for a ticket that's not in the system;
4) Go to the courthouse and challenge a ticket that's not in the system;
5) Check daily until my ticket is entered into the system.
Also according to the operator, if I go to the courthouse and the ticket isn't in the system, they would simply extend the time to pay the ticket. This seems ridiculous because, while I may be against the manner in which I got my ticket (the officer walked out of a McDonald's to give me this seatbelt ticket, I can't argue with the fact that I wasn't wearing my seatbelt, so now I'm trying to pay it, and they're making it as difficult as possible to pay it.
My court date is in 9 days and since I have nothing better to do with my days, I'll probably go and see if the ticket is in the system yet. If not, I'd like to see if I can get the ticket cancelled/withdrawn/whatever just by virtue of how ridiculous it is that it still hasn't been entered into their system after 3 weeks. Then again, I run into a similar problem: the ticket isn't in the system.
Has anyone else run into this problem themselves?
