Had a Canadian Tire Centro when I lived in the condo, upgraded to a Broil King Signet 20 when I got my house. What a difference in build quality and performance.

You know those bored stay at home moms who's entire lives revolve around driving their kids to soccer, various cleaning accessories, and worrying about neighbourhood rapists? The kind of people that watch the View and go "uh huh..." Those unfulfilled people who try to fill the void in their empty lives by writing whiny letters to the editor complaining about shit that no one really cares about?
Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.
You want me to buy a new BBQ? I’m ok with paying $110 for a fresh grill every 5 years lol. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I ran my cheapo grill for 13 years with no cover, zero issues on the outside. Inside had a few replacement parts. New grill was 800 or so, by no means baller status but I got a cover and try and use it. I don’t have a reason but the wife told me I had to.
Reason for covers:
- aesthetic (cover looks nicer that BBQ?)
- protection from tree droppings (my issue)
- protection from bird droppings
Wasn’t sure what you meant by grill. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If you want 0 maintenance get a stainless steel grill.

If you want some maintenance, long lasting, and pure heat retention awesomeness, get cast iron. Leave the food on the grill and burn off before using.
Quality of the cover matters too. My Weber covers tended to last about 5-7 years while the cheapo ones last 1 or 2 max.

I meant the cooking grills. Or is it grates? My bbq is stainless and even without cover looks half decent. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I guess I could part with my 1.5 year old Genesis NG so that I could go charcoal.

You are supposed to oil cast iron but that is for noobs who clean after each cook. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Cast iron pots and pans, maybe clean once in a while. BBQ grill grates? Fuck no. Add oil and heat in various layers. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Simply distribute your food around the grill so that the grease covers every inch of it.

My Amazon Basics cover fits my 15 year old Weber Genesis like a jimmy hat and never gets blown off by the strongest of winds. It's 6 years old and faded, but still going strong. I suspect the plastic knobs would be dry and brittle from UV rays if not for the cover.
Yep, vegetable oil spray. Clean out the BBQ as well every month or so with light use. The crap on the bottom collects moisture. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Actually, I prefer my oak scraper over a wire brush, now that it’s wore in and matching the grill spacing. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
