I am mowing like twice a week right now just for leaf mitigation duty.

This rain is basically just annoying at this point.

Would this time frame be the last mow of the season? I think it is.

Do you recommend shortest cut or average length?
Short cut to keep the voles away.

Does anyone have recommendations for fencing installers?

Looking to get a quote in the spring for the front yard + material options.

Seems like a solid deal. The Gardena was $300 but 100ft hose.

    1/2 hose I see.

I just got this 5/8 hose one (more flow), for $179 on sale. I suspect the quality on the unit above is better, but we'll see how mine works. I'm actually mounting it inside the garage by the sink, to run it out the garage door, etc.

    Interesting!

Gonna grab one of these... sick of shitty "kink free" hoses from Costco.

I wasn't impressed with the flexzilla hose I had.

    No?

I've had 2 different brands of Costco "Lifetime" kink free hoses... and they all sucked. The latest ones I bought I hauled them back (1 was used for a few days and 1 new unopened) and took advantage of Costco's return policy they were so shitty.

Replaced with Flexzilla's and they've been awesome. A fraction of the weight and it rolls up so much better.

The only Flexzilla hose I ever liked is my px washer one. All my garden hoses are 5/8" black rubber because that shit LASTS, even if it's full of water and we suddenly get freezing temps. Sure it's heavy, but the trick is to have multiple faucets strategically located around the yard.

For anyone interested, I found some GPM facts for different hose sizes. I have 70psi pressure at my house (while flowing).

Flow results at 70psi hose inlet pressure:
    1/2" 100ft hose - 9 GPM
    5/8" 100ft hose - 15 GPM
    3/4" 100ft hose - 25 GPM

    https://www.greenlinehose.com/conten...&%20Sizing.pdf

A crazy fact from the PDF above: a 100ft 1/2 dia hose loses 100psi(!!!) if you were able to shove 10GPM.
A 5/8" hose loses 34psi at the same GPM and distance. And a 3/4" hose loses only 14psi.

Sprinkler at end of hose will flow what it can flow, though...

Gallons per minute is not a consideration for my yardwork needs. I can agree that larger diameter hoses will slightly reduce pressure drop if you don't have a significant restriction on the end.

@msommers can teach you folks about limited entry flow calculations.

At the hose outlet, more pressure going into the sprinkler equals more flow and more distance coming out of the sprinkler.
I'm def over sciencing it and it doesn't matter for most ppl.

Over sciencing stuff is pretty enjoyable and a great hobby. The issue is if you ever tell anyone on the internet what you are thinking, they'll ALWAYS argue with you.

The only time someone isn't full of shit is if they're preparing for a colonoscopy.

What color mulch looks good next to green grass? Black, forest brown or Sierra red?

I prefer black, but it fades pretty fast if in direct sun all day.
