she was pretty slick even with studs.. probably ok if you're taking it easy, but definitely some slippery spots on corners

damn, price is very tempting for sure.. don't think i can sneak that in the garage without the wife noticing the big ass tires though lol. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
have you considered running 700x50 on your jake?
I doubt tires that wide would clear the fork and rear stay and they would make my fenders completely useless hahaThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I find that studs don't really help on snow. For snow a mud CX tire (33 or 35mm) is great.
I turned around and decided to “work” from home. Just went out on my bike to test my tires and my first time riding in snow. Holy fk that was dicey. Didn’t fall but couldn’t turn worth a shit. And prob didn’t get past 10 km/hr. Haha
If anyone wants a super cheap fatbike, I have a 2015 Norco Bigfoot I want gone that needs a few parts and assembly. I converted it to a Shimano 1x11 M8000 setup, but then stole the rear derailler and cassette for my cross bike.
2015 Norco Bigfoot 6.2 https://www.norco.com/bike-archives/2015/bigfoot-62/
Shimano M8000 rear shifter
Raceface narrow wide chainring (28 or 30T I think)
Brand new Surley Lou/Bud Tires (not sure if the Bud will fit the frame).
Just add a rear derailleur, cassette and some tubes and you're good to go. $400?
Good Bike. What size frame? I find the Bigfoot fits smallThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I'm 6'0, and I ride a Norco Bigfoot 6.3 size XL (mech disc). Solid bike. No issues in the snow today.

Fuck, that's tempting and we're about the same height too. So you're selling it with the 1x up front? Damn it Ryan. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Yar - what size??
Good - I was hoping it wouldn't fit me
I was in the same boat this morning. I almost bailed twice before I got half way to work. I kept on washing out over packed snow, called it quits and did a work from home day as well. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Slow and steady today, sketchy areas in residential.
I have the Schwalbe Winter Marathon 700x35. They are heavy AF but works quite well.
Went for a ride this morning. Paths were pretty effortless on studs so tomorrow morning shouldn't be a problem. Some of the unplowed roads were a little sketchy, but manageable.
Guys are making me jealous. Had a really bad chest cold for the last 2 weeks so haven’t ridden. Going to try for tuesday
Ya path looked decent next to southland dog park, definitely one line of no snow for that whole area. I’ll be out tomorrow
got all dressed up, let the dog out, felt the cold... fuk that noise. I'm baby stepping my way into this winter cycling bs, and today wasnt happening!
Pleasant ride in this morning, I find -10 to -15 is the sweet spot for winter cycling.
I ran the 10km instead today. Less wind chill when running.
