Passport has $2000 cash rebate on it right now. Not as sexy as the other options but a solid vehicle nonetheless.
MDX has $7000 rebate I believe. There should be a new MDX announced for 2021, going on sale for 2020, so if you don’t mind an outdated style in a few months that’s another option and you can probably leverage this in negotiations with the dealer.
MDX had the exact same rebate last year too. Attractive at 10k off (getting it close to invoice). This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I didn't have a bad buying experience at Northwest but my last few experiences with service have been pretty poor. I'd probably just skip the games and go to Silverhill if possible.
BMW has the 2019 X3’s for under $600/month in a lease... good deal, X1 type pricing

I know what this all means. 3 months or so into the ownership of my brand new 2018 JK Wrangler and I am already $5K'ish into the mods and already have so many plans in my head brewing lolThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
As for the suggestion in regards to this thread - my vote is the Q5. The wife loves hers and as boring as I find any of these vehicles it is surprisingly a nice driving vehicle.
Lexus GX460!
I’m interested in your thoughts after the test drive.
I will be in this same boat come winter as I’ve grown tired of having 4 vehicles for 2 drivers so I’m ditching the Armada and the Cadillac in favour of towing suv. Got the wife a highlander for an amazing deal last month so we are set for the family grocery suv and ditched the other two Toyotas she was driving.
I looked at jeeps but every single one I test drive the steering feels absolutely terrible, is this something that can be fixed in the aftermarket?
Edit: do they include white sunglasses with a Jeep purchase?

The white sunglasses are for if you drive a Ram. Easy mixup. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
And no, there is no making the steering of a Jeep better.

Majority of wrangler drivers so far I've seen are young ladies. hmmmm
The steering is one negative of the Jeep. It is pretty loose compared to other vehicles. Works really well driving off road, but on streets it takes getting used to. I will say after a few thousand miles it is getting somewhat better in mine. Way less wandering in the lane. There are TSBs out there for it, but is seems in some cases time helps and in others they are really bad from factory. Also it seems trim dependent as different trims have different suspension and drive train components.
My wife really hated the steering, she essentially refused to drive it unless I was drunk. It really required some vigilance from the driver at highway speeds to be ready to correct one of its little tantrums.
It was a hoot off road though.

For sure, I'm planning on driving two GCs this Saturday. Out of all the ones I'm testing, they are the only ones that could tow. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Wow I've had the completely opposite experience with my wife. She loves driving the Jeep almost as much as me and says that's the first time I made a good decision with a vehicle. You guys know how many I go through so that's a big statement coming from her and especially because she typically couldn't care less about cars in general. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. ExtraSlows’s post reminded me of the XC90. Never driven one but I love the look. If I were OP would definitely look into those too. Quick check on autotrader shows a 2017 for around 46k so should be within your budget
Will probably be driving this either next weekend or if time allows, on Saturday since there is a Volvo dealer right next to Glenmore Audi. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Based on what I have read and watched, you basically have 5 models that are direct competitors:
- Audi Q5
- Volvo XC90
- Acura RDX
- MB GLC300
- BMW X3
I'm tossing the WK2 Grand Cherokee in there because that was the original plan and the Acura MDX due to the similarity to the RDX in design, but size similarity to the GC. The Audi Q5 and BMW X5 are both more than what I can spend based on my requirements for model year.
