    Default speeding ticket question...

okay, im an idiot. this isnt a rant and no im not going to go off on CPS because it was totally my fault and very foolish. i was driving on center st uber late for work. i punch it on the bridge and get pulled over by cps for going 101 on a 50. i honestly didnt know it was 50, although the rules are if the speed isnt specified, the limit is 50. so yes, i deserved it. but i have questions:

they sent me on a court summon with no price on the ticket. ticket is due on oct. 24 '05.

    - can/will they take my license?
    - how much is the usual fine?
    - what can i do to help the situation?
    - lower price
    - demerits

    thanks in advance

Pointts is the lawyer. You go in and talk to them and pay them and they do everything on your behalf. The guys there are ex-cops so they know the system pretty well. They can tell you almost exactly what to expect as far as sentencing goes. It won't be cheap but it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper than taking the hit with the fine and increased insurance.

^ I know that this is a small point, but it is, or may be important in dealing with POINTTS - they are, I think, very effective at what they offer, however they are not lawyers. They are paralegals and have the right to represent you in traffic court or other summary offence matters.

What you do not have with them is recourse through the Bar Society as you would with a lawyer should a dispute arise.

I got a 105 in 50 2 months ago, got a traffic lawyer. He suggested me to take the defensive driving course BEFORE the court day and so i did. My lawyer showed paper to the judge and the ticket was reduced to 15 over, 2 demerits and 89 bucks . The course takes out 3 demerits in total so my record is virtually clean. You might want to consider that, and if you want i can pm you that lawyer's contact info, he was extremely helpful to me.

^^ i wish i was in a way slower car, this was from the bridge last traffic light to the end of the bridge going north. if it couldnt reach 100 km so quick, i would've gotten a more lenient fine...but then again, regardless, its still my fault and stupidity.

I think double the limit is dangerous driving and that can deffinetly get you a suspension, I was in for that and they reduced it to careless and $1500 for the ticket and 3 month suspension. Good Luck
