Spider-Man 3 Villians CONFIRMED!

During an interview this weekend promoting Elizabethtown, Kirsten Dunst confirmed rumors to Zap2it that Thomas Haden Church will play Sandman and Topher Grace is Venom in director Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3, opening in theaters on May 4, 2007.

"We have really great people though as the villains in this film, Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace -- Venom and Sandman," said Dunst, who plays Mary Jane Watson in the Spidey films.

"Maybe I wasn't supposed to say that," she added before reversing her claim. "It's the other way around. You're right," she conceded to a journalist.

Dunst has yet to receive a script for the third film that will begin shooting in January. "But I know the general story. There's a lot that they're trying to fit into this one."

IMO, doesn't really flow, It would make sense to bring Harry as the Green Goblin since they ended Spider-Man 2 with him discovering his dads "secret wardobe"!

I also think bringing The Lizard in would make sense too, it would flow real nice. Ah well, I can't complain as long as the film is brilliant and I get them!!!

If they don't show the two character above, they will probably show just Harry building up to become greengoblin (for Spidey 4 - if they make it) or vice versa or BOTH!

^ that guy doesnt turn into venom, he just brings the symbiote down to earth on his space shuttle....IMO topher grace for venom doesnt seem like the best decision

Harry would have to become the 2nd Green goblin. the hobgoblin were other people (Roderick Kingsley, Arnold "Lefty" Donovan, Ned Leeds, and Jason Macendale) I thought that if they were going to use Venom that they would have choosen someone a little more built, but anyway Venom is my favorite villan so I am pumped about this one now! Should be good (I Hope)

well one of my friends from another forum brought up a good point.

look at the transformation of edward norton from fight club to american history x.

but in all honesty, as true as that is, i still cant picture topher making that kind of physical transformation.


and as stated, harry never becomes the HOBgoblin thats somebody else, he becomes the 2nd green goblin.


as for venom, they're naturally going to hafta fuck with his origin, so they'll most likely resort to the fox cartoon method of bringing it, james jamesons son will bring it back. not the best method, but for a movie, an acceptable one (since there is of course limited time).


i dont imagine venom will be the "primary" enemy. if the movie goes like the comics SOMEWHAT, peter will have the symbiote for a good duration of the movie, then rip it off him, leaving it for eddie brock to pick up. I imagine eddie will acquire it in the last 15 minutes of the movie only to leave it open for a 4th one.


the actors only signed for 3 movies though, so expect new actors for the 4th movie and on. IMO topher would have been a good replacement for peter parker, but thats just me

Edward Norton wasn't that small in Fight Club, just looked nerdy because of the way he was dressed.

Venom and Carnage were my favorite villains, it would suck to see venoms character ruined, it's sounding like another spiderman movie for me to be dissappointed by. I'm happy it's not green goblin again, I hated that character so it's good they're taking a break from him.

It would be neat to see a crossover with Punisher and spiderman or something like that.

Has anyone played Ultimate Spiderman yet? Eddie Brock is the same size as Peter Parker and they are both like 15 year old kids.

Pretty good game though~!! So fair i've ran into; Wolverine, Shocker, Electro, Rhino, Beetle, Green Goblin, Johnny Flash (Fantastic 4) are just to name a few.

American History X was released in 1998, Fight Club 1999.

I agree though Topher Grace as venom is a poor choice.. they are going to play it so that he becomes much larger (and taller) when transforming into venom..

i just meant the contrast of the 2 roles he played. definatly physical structure difference.
