Default Ipod Nano stuck in disc mode

As the title says my stupid nano is stuck in disc mode and Im not sure how to get it out of that mode. Ive tried all the buttons, Ive tried hooking it up to my comp then ejecting it, still nothing. When its in disc mode there is a stupid little arrow and at the bottom it says ok to disconnect but I cant search through the database for music. Any feedback would be appreciated as I am ready to crack this things like a glowstick.

dunno if its like the regular 20gig ipod, but to get that out of disk mode, reboot it by holding the menu/play buttons and when the screen shuts off, hold down the ffwd, rewind at the same time.

    yea...should try resetting it

switch the hold switch on and then off
and then hold menu and middle button at thesame time and it should turn off and then back on.

unfortunately, taking the battery out of the ipod is too much work as the ipod uses an internal battery.

btw i had similar probs with my sisters nano....only after reseting i still had problems....

anyways it turns out that apple diddn't install the latest ipod software on her ipod, so all i had to do was reformat, and install the new software (a program from apples site does it all at the clicks of a few buttons)

after installing the new software the nano has been working fine...
