Default bought my first house :)

well kinda of a snap decision but me and my girlfriend decided to build a new house in New Brighton down south, starter home i guess, 3 bedroom nice layout, cost around 220,000 ish, with upgrades. pretty sad considering when they started building there they were only like 170

good story behind the process though, we went to look at houses in november and the sales guy told us there was alot of interest in the area. i figured good sales tactic until i heard just about everyone there asking for a lot.

they were only opening up for sale 10 lots a month, so i went down there on a friday night to wait overnight (pretty sad for a lot and at 1 in the am i was the 9th person out of 10 to get a lot, they apparently opened up at 12:00 but they didnt tell anyone, as there was people waiting since thursday. anyways there is now a list of like 34 or so people and they are selling lots into march now with around a 4-5 thousand increase in pricing every month, so if u want in to new brighton its likely gonna cost alot more and be awhile just a headsup.

but im pretty pumped i get to pick out my colors and tiles and all that, cant wait to build a garage.

Congrats, just be ready for several months of stress. how long are they taking ti build down there?

Make sure you check the place out every couple of days to make sure there are no major defencies taking place. Builders will try and sneak whatever "problems"come up by you. Also make sure before you sign off that you study the prints closlely especially things like plug placements etc.

Also if you plan on building a garage in the back make sure that they sleeve your gas line.

    Good luck.

Congrats, Nice house, the only change i'd make is to Sacrifice the en-suite for 2nd floor laundry.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

its nice but can be stressul, the upgrades are killing me. I have to setup the structured wiring meeting, and I'm probably gonna want some more cat5 and rg6 runs for satellite and more data/video and i know thats gonna cost $$$$. appliance upgrade killed me already lol.

I am hoping 24x24 will fit, but anything double will do, i plan on building myself with a kit so probably around 10+ but if it adds 25,000 to the house its worth it.

    Congrats on the new place

I also built with heartland homes but in the tuscany area. So far so good, no problems yet. I get the place on Jan 31st, a month earlier then want they told me so that's good.

I'll probably build a garage myself too with a kit but I have no clue where to get them and how much it cost. Does anyone have anymore info on this?
