Default See the Herald? $650 ticket for passing a cop car??

So, aparantly, if a cop is on the side of the road, you have to slow to 60k/h on the highway....

They've been doing stings with cops sitting on deerfoot with no one pulled over, lights flashing, and aghost car chasing people down to give the ugly ticket....

    WTF is up with that?

I get an impeding traffic ticket for driving too slow, and they get to sit there and slow thousands of people so that they can write tickets to people that have not heard of the law yet??

    BS

I can't believe the dumb shit and ridiculous fines we get pulled over on us....

i think this is great cause what if your dad mom relative was a member of the police force or an emergency crew and they got hit? thats how you have to think with this not that it slows down traffic, WHO CARES. nobody is in that big of a rush to have 2 mins taken outta their days. one thing i dont understand is that i see if they are in the shoulder and the lane right next to it would have to slow down but what about the lane on the far far right which has a lane plus some of the shoulder between the 2? can they still give you a ticket? or is it that everybody in every lane on that side of the highway has to slow down to 60 when lights are flashing on the side of the road?

on yeah and ive seen this bulshit on crowchild them just sitting there waiting for somebody to go to fast past them so they can give them a ticket. i find that bulshit but the law? no not at all. instead of them using decoys and shit why not look for the people that are actually causing a problem on the road. IMO thats what they should not just sit on the side of the road and take a car away from the city just for that.....come on now.

but awesome law keeps people safe in unsafe condition.

There are many sheep around us....

If fines were REALLY a deterrant, and safety issue, each year you should get blank slate, and FIRST time you do something should be a mandatory warning... people are not perfect and do make mistakes.

$632 fine? Brand new law, I never heard of it. I mean when I took my driving tests, ther was no such law. They should have to send everyone a registered letter informing them of th enew law to make it take effect.... fucking retards... I dont read the paper or watch TV....

If it was a safety thing on the flashing lights, they should include everyone... like if ou break down and have your hazards on.... a cops life is not worth more then yours or mine....

Hey dimwit.... wanna save lives? Ban driving cars alltogether.

If you are stopped on the side of a highway...be carefull

I'm gonna find one of those cops baiting people, and go blast past him at 260k/h

Actually this is just common sense and she deserved to get the ticket.

Under a provincial traffic law that took effect Oct. 31, drivers who exceed 60 km/h when passing emergency vehicles in the adjacent lane face fines of up to $700.
If she was too fucking stupid to get over into the next lane, she should have slowed down. You go stand in the breakdown lane and watch people fly by. You trust them to stay in the lines?

And it should apply for someone changing a tire on the side of the road as well if they have flares or signs up.

I don't get the herald/sun, and the news is so depressing I don't watch it anymore. So, this forum was the first place I had ever heard of this law. If they are going to introduce a new driving rule, especially one with such heavy consequences, I feel either a mandantory first offense warning, or a registered letter to every driver in the city/province (however far this law takes effect) would be in order.
If I had gotten pulled over and fined $632 for not slowing down when my driver's handbook says I don't have to, I would be just a tad upset about it.
Now, to introduce a new law without properly notifying the driving public, then to set up traps like this is just that, trapping people. What a big fucking cash grab by our city.

Don't get me wrong, I am not arguing with the law itself, but rather them introducing a law, not notifying everybody, cranking the fine up to $632, then setting up traps to catch the people who they didn't tell about the law.
I believe the new law itself is a good thing, and will serve to improve safety for highway workers. The CPS tactics on it however........
