Default Need advice on dealing with Telus for a new phone

    Here is the deal:

-I've been with Telus for around 2 years
-My monthly bill is around $200
-I have no contract with them as mine ended last year

My phone is slowly starting to die on me and I'm looking at getting one of their new phones (I'm interested in the new whizzy Razr). I'll either do a "no contract" or a 1 year contract....but not really interested in a 2 or 3 year contract.

Will Telus give me a break on the prices of their phones on the website for a customer who spends $200 month and has been with them for a couple of years?

I'm also considering going to Rogers...so would they be more inclined to give a deal if I used that "idle threat"of jumping to a competitor?

Any input of advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Pacman

I found out that I have a $75 dollar reduction on any new phone I buy on a 1 year contract. Is this reasonable or should they be able to do more if I were to call them up?

ususally you only get a 50 discount.. im surprised they gave you that. But yea if you do a hardware upgrade they will make you sign for another 2-3 years.. but just push em and tell em your gonna go somewhere else. but dont go rogers. your gonna hate it. your gonna go from having good converage to really shitty coverage

I'm with TELUS too, and my families bill has gotten reasonably high lately too, after my contract ends, im not going back, done my research and i found that TELUS is not the best phone company out there price-wise. I wouldn't stay with TELUS IMO.

they will only give u a good deal if u r willing to sign at least another 2/3 years, if not then its hard for them to give u a deal

also tell them to waive the progamming fee for getting a new contract

why are u bills 200$ talk to them about that too if they can do something better....

    good luck and sound pissed

anyone actually work for telus who picks up the type of calls to *611 pm me i wanna know some shit....

Maybe he just uses his phone a lot... for work/business or something.

Personally, I'd stay with telus - seeing that you're a heavy duty user, you'll probably appreciate the better coverage over rogers. plus, i've heard rogers has CS thats worse than telus. Bell is another decent alternative... good CS and good coverage too. (I think they have the razor phone too)

Well i was on a 3 year contract, and at 2 years my V60 started to die in less than a day and i had replaced the anteni like 4 times. I called telus complained about the phone said that i would like to stay with them and ask what they could do for me and that i wanted a new phone for free. They gave me enough money that i only had to pay and extra 40$ for and LG 6190 on a 3 year contract. I only rack up a bill between 60-80$ a month too. Just choose your words wisely keep calling to you get some super nice and willing to hook it up! good luck
