Default Xbox 360 s problems with boot up.

I am looking for some advice on an issue that I am having with my new Xbox. it is ~ month old Xbox 360 s (shiny black) and it came with 250gb HDD.

Issue is that when I turn it on, I get the white splash page showing the ball with the green x and the XBOX 360 logo, but it will stay there for 2+ minuites before it goes to the dashboard, and then on most occasions, once there, it takes another 1-3 mins to read the game disk, and will usually just say play DVD. changing the game makes no difference either. If I let it sit there a few mins, it will eventually recognize the game disk, and let me boot into the game.

anyone have any ideas on what is wrong? how to fix it?

    any help is appreciated!

the only thing I can think of is to try the 'failed update' fix
-hold the 'sync' button then turn the power on. Keep holding the sync button until it is fully booted -if there's an update (or partial update) messing things up that will restore it to it's previous state.

edit- that's for fat 360s-don't know if it works on slims too or not...

I had the same issue where it stayed on the splash screen for a while, and it would hang at the dashboard. It doesn't happen anymore but I do believe it was an update issue.

Not much help, but it's happened to me, too.
