I thought pawn shops got all their products from customers "pawning" them and not returning to the store to buy them by the deadline date.

Cash Converters actually works the same way. They have to hold the items for 30 days before they are allowed to put them up for sale. You have first crack at buying your items back but they never seem to tell you that.
